Update on the XT600E clutch cable for my TT600RE..
My goal with buying the new cable was to lighten the clutch lever pull. The old cable was OK but old, so I thought a new cable would help. I was disappointed, there was no great difference.
Last night I managed to reroute the cable beautifully, as it is longer than the stock TT600RE cable. It required a few zip ties. No sharp bends. Now the cable is NOT coming out of the dashboard. I could move the clutch lever unit maybe 3 cm away from the grip increasing the lever ratio, softening the pull. The smooth bends on the cable also help.
The difference is considerable. I can’t wait to try the bike out.
So maybe the XT600E clutch cable may be the better choice for those that don’t mind a little extra work and a few zip ties… :smartass:

I rode the TT with the new clutch cable (and relocated clutch lever) today. I know it has been a week but I have been busy messing with my trials bike…:mchappy::mchappy:
I am very happy with the results, the pull is significantly lighter. The combination of the lighter clutch pull and the lower gear ratio (14t front) has really improved the overall feel of the big TT. Good stuff.
But as previously said, there is a little work involved in fitting the XT’s clutch cable to the TT600RE. |
