I just received some reputation, and I can't see who it's from. I looked and looked, but it's nowhere to be seen. I wanted to post a thank you to the person, but I can't see who it's from.
Any chance we can get a "from" field there? I figure it should be possible to send a pm saying thanks for the rep points. But, anyway, whoever gave me the thumbs up: Thank you. :) |
Ratings and Feedback
I also noticed a few other changes to the HUBB, like recommendations of other content as a redirection before getting the HUBB forum and requesting feedback.
For the ratings/reputation button thingy, I wanted to give too much feedback, I think 5 times and got the following message "You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later." I presume it's to stop abuse :confused1: What are the other limitations, can you only rate the same person once? As for the ratings this is my too bobs worth.

Why do people need a "pat on the back" for posting interesting/useful information?
The people here have been doing it for years and have not needed gold stars, like primary school kids, so far. The post count is enough and if you lurk here for long, you soon find the people worth reading. Its all a bit too "touchy-feely" for me and belongs in on facebook or lamebook and other sad sites.doh Cheers, John:blushing: |
I would go with this idea is a very very bad idea..
Posts good or pointless should (note this is not if they are offenceive) should be made without fear of being rated. There is enough people that judge around with out making it easy.. Too often i have seen a person ask a "dumb" question or did not do a good enough "search for the answer" and get ripped on for it.. many were never seen again. (i myself have experience this). If people have dumb questions or comments let them ask it.. if you dont like a post.. DONT BOTHER TYPING! Dont judge or say anything... what is the old saying: If nothing nice.. say nothing... this will also cause cliques to form irrelevant of usefullness of post content.. No one here is "The expert" we should not try and make people look like they are... |

I think one mans pointless post could be anothers inspiration? I certainly think so. I'm off to start an oil thread, see if I can be as popular as a **** in a space suit overnight  Andy |
I voted no !!
I'm not into hierarchy. I don't even like post counts being shown really but anyway...... !! I think that it might lead to some good information being passed up because the user is unknown or new. Can you also imagine the arguments it could create.... Also, I reckon it will be quite open to abuse, favouritism, etc. The hubb works great as it is I think !! |
I think the reputation system has just too many levels. Another forum system I use has the technique, "xxxx has been thanked xx times," which I think is far more meaningful.
The ability to deduct from the reputation is a bit dodgy--just because someone doesn't agree with a post. |
Mine's a 'no'.
It doesn't seem to provide anything you'd call progress or improvement, and could drag threads in all sorts of directions. I agree with all the 'no' arguments posted so far. But, could it be set up to operate only on threads in 'The Bar'? That might provide a bit of entertainment. |
My vote is "no" too, also for all the reasons posted above.

Hello to all.
First i thought (and wrote here on the hubb) that it "might" be a good/fun idea. But after reading some of the things above i changed my mined!!! It is better to answer a person"s post. "if you like it or not" with a reason. So that person knows why someone else likes/dislikes it. Also people may think:i am not going to responed a post, becouse mabey people do not like my opinion(and get a lot of bad points) While saying what you really think is a lot more inportant!! Thank to you all.:thumbup1: So please change my vote!! |
2 more NO votes.
Surely we can find something more productive or entertaining to do with our time. Let's elect a prom King & Queen! |
