Old bike to japan
I plan to take my 1936 Nimbus motorcycle to Japan for a few months of riding. The Japanese embassy has politely ignored my requests for information about taking old vehicles to Japan, so if anyone out there
knows anything about how the local authorities react to foreigners bringing their old bikes to Japan? Or if riding with a motorcycle trailer is permitted (I never travel light)? Any info, contacts to Japanese vintage bike clubs/organisations etc. would be much appreciated. Kim Scholer of Copenhagen, Denmark |
Hi Kim
Rob and Dafne deJong shipped a bike and sidecar from Los Angeles to Tokyo and rode it through Japan. See their story here: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/rid...pril2001.shtml Try contacting Chris in Tokyo for information on whether a vintage bike will be a problem. He is one of our moderators, and you can get his e-mail address from this post: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000025.html Chris has put up a page on the topic of bringing a motorcycle into Japan, which may have the other info you need: http://www2.gol.com/users/chrisl/japan/index2.html Good luck and let us know how you go. ------------------ Susan Johnson "It matters not what goal you seek Its secret here reposes: You've got to dig from week to week To get Results or Roses."
