I will be going over Friday eve and heading off towards Metz Sat morning from near Calais too. There is a good chance you will catch me up in the evening as I will be travelling on minor roads for relaxing 300 ish miles on day1. Have you a camp-site in mind ? There is a municipal camping in Metz itself. Happy to head there and meet up. Heading east to Georgia via Istanbul. Have no fixed plans of route so may be going similar way.
