RTW west to east from uk 2006

Hi everyone

I'm planning a RTW trip west to east from the UK in April 2006.

I'm 37 and will be riding a prepared XT600E.

I know it's short notice notice for a trip of this size but would really like to do it next year instead of 2007.

If anyone is interested or know's of anybody planning a similar trip, drop me a line.

Thanks! John

I'll try that again without hitting reply too soon.....

I'm looking at a trip East from Dublin hopefully all the way round in Summer 2006. Looking at starting after June 15, taking June, July & August. Similar run to the actors last year (and a large contingent of mortals that I read about here and elewhere!). Dublin through UK to France, Germany, Baltics, St Petersburg, Moscow and East through Siberia. Then Vladivostok to Seattle most likely and across the States Don't have the time for detours, next time maybe. Is my route/ timing relevant ??

There was another bunch of guys I meant to respond to who are going a broadly similar route form the UK and on down to Oz ?? Where are you guys with your planning and meetings ?? Can't find the thread now

I'm leaving May 15th, from Amsterdam to Bangkok and beyond. Dipping into Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan (KKH), India, Nepal, Bangkok ... and beyond

Hello KJ / Kberetta

Thanks for your replies.

KJ - Sounds like we're planning a similar journey. I was going to leave April/May due to the weather conditions across Russia and wet weather in Mongolia (depending on exact route). I'll be happy to leave in June if we can plan a passable route. I've also spoken to the lads riding down to Oz next year - I can give you there emails if you like KJ.

kberetta - From your route I think your heading further south but depending on departure dates we might be able up at the start some time.

Sorry, don't know your names!

on the subject of short notice.......

I am leaving the UK in 10 days going through Europe (via med) to Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan (fingers crossed, but they have stopped issuing tourist visas alltogether and my chances of getting a transit visa are slim); Uzbekistan; Kyrgyzstan; Kazakhstan; Mongolia; Russia then heading back west to the Ukraine; Slovakia; Czech Republic; Germany ; Holland

is anyone going to be in these places?

someone wanted to discuss this trip and sent me their number, my PC got nailed and I lost my e-mails, could you re-send please?

My wife and I are also going from London to Vladivostok and then down Japan. We leave London on the morning of the 1st June and plan to get to Vladivostok at or near 30 August.

We shall be on 2 old BMW, an R80 and R100 GS. Hopefully we may bump into you at some point during the trip. If you see us feel free to wave us down.

Sorry about my delayed reply, just got back from scouting a route for a (automobile) rally. There was a big mistake in my post: We are planning for 2007!!!

We are planning departing around June 2007, so we hit the last critical stretch towards Magadan in the best time.

Right now the idea is to follow the route the guys from long way round took. They invested a lot of money and resources to find an incredible route, so why not use this to our advantage.

We are still in the initial, but serious planning phase and I’m looking into all possible routes, as well as east to west…
