Ride through China 2015

We are actively seeking participants to share the cost of getting through China. Our plan is to travel through Malaysia, Thailand and Laos entering China on 8th April, 2015, and exit 31 days later into Kazakhstan, through the Stans to Iran, Turkey and into Europe. We have obtained 3 quotes and have selected Navo Tours. The timing has been set to maximise time in the Northern Hemisphere summer. Any earlier and there is still snow in Xinjiang. The cost (up to 4 riders, it will be cheaper for 5 or 6) is approx. A$6,600pp which covers guide, driver, support vehicle and all their costs, permits, licence and insurance. On top of that will be your bike, fuel and any tolls. Allow $800pp for accommodation (incl. breakfast). Add lunch/dinner (cheap as chips), entry fees at tourist sites and your Visa. Costs assume no pillion and twin share/double. This is 31 days and approx. 6,800km (approx. $1 per km). Highlights incl. Silk Route, Dali, Tiger Leaping Gorge, Shangri-La, Panda reserve, Xian (terracotta warriors), Tibetan Monsatery, Great Wall, Gobi Desert..... China is not to be missed!:thumbup1:

China 2015

Hi Mate
We would be definitely interested in tagging along next year, there would be two of us on one bike, time and dollars not a problem, I see that you are in Brisbane, we are up at Tewantin, wouldn`t mind getting together at some point to discuss it. How much does having a pillion affect the cost?
Regards
Brad

OK you got me thinking, keep me posted. When is the "got to know by" date? I would be shipping in from the USA so could meet anywhere or maybe go a month early and start in India. This thinking could get me in trouble but have always wanted to travel through China. Not sure if it would be just me or if the wife would come with me.

Couple from Adelaide Interested

Hi Would you bikers consider travelling with a Landcruiser. We have overlanded Africa previously and travelled with a couple of bikes and found it good for all. We would like to do the trip you are planning and will be in Brisbane on Monday. Great to catch up if you think you might be interested.

Hi Everybody!

I would consider joining your trip!
Will it be ok if my bike is register in Germany?
By the beginning of 2015 it will be in South east Asia !

What type of bike are you will drive?

Kenny

Hi Lisa,
Interested definitely..we are currently on a project in Melbourne..will be in Brisbane from 2nd to 12th...bringing your vehicle could benefit the whole bike group if you could accommodate the English-speaking guide and save the need for a Chinese driver and support vehicle - sharing the journey would be awesome..cheers, Lee and Paul:clap:

Hey Kenny,
We are on KTM 990's..can't see any problems with a German registered bike! Long as you're keen...:thumbup1:

Maybe

I'll be thinking about this one. 2015 might be the year for me to shove off on a major trip - and I was thinking something through Europe/Asia/Africa, but had no real plans. China, very high on the list. I like the idea of maximizing time in the northern hemisphere.

I would be riding an XChallenge and would need to look at logistics to get to Malaysia. How many have committed towards your goal of 4-6 riders?

Mike

Hi Mike,
We've had good interest but it's early days and not sure how many will commit. We think we could take as many as 8 and it would be good to have some mechanical skills in that team (or someone who speaks Russian!!). We will be crating and flying our bikes to KL (lots of info on the HUBB regarding this)...if you're interested we can email more details. Cheers, Lee

Hello Lee,

Well, I'd certainly like to hear more details - especially route and cost. No promises, but if its the right timing, so be it! I'll have to dig into more details in terms of shipping.

I don't speak Russian, but work on my own bikes and am a machinist at heart! (Was for 15 years). I could give you a better bio, but will hold off until plans get more serious...

Here's my personal email. mtncrawler@gmail.com

Mike / Kenny and any other crazies thinking about this option. Are you interested in getting together on the way to China.
What I am working on is getting to India a early March, (will fly bike from USA) then ride to where the group would enter China. Some problems are popping up that need to be resolved: Myanmar - we would need a guide to cross, Would like to end up in Romania (can store bike there). Iran is somewhat complicated for USA citizens and may need a guide there also. Not sure I can escape for three months but that is what I am working on. Would be riding solo, (wife thinks this one is a little over the top for her). I would be riding a BMW R1200 GSA, (aka Elly the Tractor). I have traveled a fair amount, the Americas top to bottom, Australia and New Zealand, Africa southern and eastern. Long days don't bother me but like to do it at a reasonable pace and take in the sites. Not picky about where I sleep or what I eat. So if part or all of this add on to China is of interest to you let me know.

Interested in joining

Hi there,

I am very much interested in joining this trip, I will be off from work starting from January so understanding the start date would be good for me.
I would be shipping my bike from London (it's a Triumph Tiger XC)

Happy with sharing the costs, as its really the only feasible way to go through China.

Please contact me on donalddebono@yahoo.com

Really looking forward to discuss this in more detail! I will be in a position to be away from work from January till June / July, so if this trip will start early in the year, it will work perfectly ! it will be a great run away from the British winter!

Cheers

Don
