What I am working on is getting to India a early March, (will fly bike from USA) then ride to where the group would enter China. Some problems are popping up that need to be resolved: Myanmar - we would need a guide to cross, Would like to end up in Romania (can store bike there). Iran is somewhat complicated for USA citizens and may need a guide there also. Not sure I can escape for three months but that is what I am working on. Would be riding solo, (wife thinks this one is a little over the top for her). I would be riding a BMW R1200 GSA, (aka Elly the Tractor). I have traveled a fair amount, the Americas top to bottom, Australia and New Zealand, Africa southern and eastern. Long days don't bother me but like to do it at a reasonable pace and take in the sites. Not picky about where I sleep or what I eat. So if part or all of this add on to China is of interest to you let me know.

Bob,

Good thoughts to ponder really. I'm still in the very early stages of considering some extended time off, and this trip seems to be a catalyst to put that into a higher gear, whether it works out or not.

I've received some additional info from the OP and will be digging into that shortly. Not sure when I'll make the call one way or another, so I'll keep subscribed to this thread and be in touch if plans fall together. bier

I have a 1200GSA also, but would probably choose my 650 XChallenge for this romp!

Hello there
Would you consider an addition of overlanders by 4 wheels ?
I am looking in to doing the same crossing on our way back from South East Asia to Europe
Have a look at the quote that we got from Nano tours.
Route 1 From Mohan (China – Laos border) to Horgos (China – Kazakhstan border)
Travel duration – 16 days
The quote is around CNY 45,000/group for 1 vehicle + 1 driver + 1 passenger
CNY 57,000/group for 2 vehicles + 2 drivers + 1 passenger

Route 2 From Mohan (China – Laos border) to Zhangmu (China – Nepal border)
Travel duration – 16 days
The quote is around CNY 42,300/group for 1 vehicle + 1 driver + 1 passenger
CNY 55,000/group for 2 vehicles + 2 drivers + 1 passenger
Let us know or contact us in info@overlanddiaries.com

Hi Lee
Is there a maximum number for the group. We may be interested, but only if the price can come down. We are lair Australian October and looking at different routes.althou th crossing g Myanmar is our preference at this stage. The Middle East is looking tricky though. I'd be interested in seeing the itinerary thanks.

Just wondering if these ideas have come into fruition. We are definitely leaving Australia in October, heading west and looking to cross Myanmar.

Hi Overlanders,
We would be interested as our price includes a vehicle, driver and a guide. If the English-speaking guide could be accommodated in your vehicle then the costs would be reduced for everyone. We are entering China on April 8th, 2015, so if anyone needs more info or an itinerary, please send us your email..

Justpaint - I am looking to go through China at pretty much the same time as you and the same entry / exit points. Leaving on a journey from Aus back to London and was having difficulty getting my head round the whole India / Pakistan / Iran stage - which going through China allows me to bypass.

Would be really interested to hear your plans and understand how you are progressing for numbers etc.

Contact me at - jemoreton@hotmail.com (for some reason I can't send you a pm).

cheers

James
