Hello again Marty

I saw that you move the crossing into China mid May17. That looks fine for my initial plans too.

As you saw in my earlier post, we rode to ShangriLa with 7 bikes in total.

As your list is growing, do you have a max number of vehicles in mind?

Edit: I saw you wrote 8-10 vehicles. I think that's a good number and you can count at least 2 vehicles from my end.

We keep in touch.

@Pascal: Both sounds like good plans. There are still some seven months to go and we already have quite a contact list.
Right now I would bet we bring a group of at least six together (4 bikes, 1 4x4), which would drop the price as low as 2.5k US per bike and around 5k US per car (IF the guide can drive in the car). Right now it looks like we’re crossing into China mid May 2017. I’ll keep you posted. Let’s keep in touch!

@Petra and Mattia. Nice! Hoi zäme!
Geiler Trip!

Scheint recht unkompliziert. Hoffe das hilft.

Hello Asidsoul
I think 8-10 would be the absolute maximum. Larger groups tend to be hard to handle. Too many different interests, too many stops, hard to find watering hole space and so on...
My favourite group would consist of 4 more bikes and one 4x4 or camper van or whatever where the guide could find place.

It would be great to have you with us!

cheers

marty

Hi,

I'm also planning a trip in China but with my car (and another one with my friends), spring 2017.
We have contacted several agencies for this and my question is:
- which agency did you choose?
Thanks for your reply.

Hi RoRo
I went with www.Tibetmoto.de we haven't booked yet.

When do you plan to cross China and from where to where? We are looking for a car to join our group!

Greetings

Hi Martin and everyone!

We are a couple of french. We are planing to cross China at the end of May 2017, but we are flexibles, from Mongolia to Laos. Whenever, we want absolutely cross Mongolia and not Kyrgyzstan. So, how can we join us?

We have a 4x4 and we have already a chinese agency : Chengdu Greatway. We have planed the route during 16 days.

I can send you the quotation if you want.

Cheers,
Chan and Moy

am I late to the party?
would also like to join your group from either Khyrgistan or Kazakhstan to Laos.

I will be traveling with the new AfricaTwin, also from Switzerland :)

Marty Kay 19 Dec 2016 18:35

Hello Chanmoy et Doomi
Welcome!
No one is late to party ;)

We would absolutely prefer the Tibet route entering Kirgizstan exit Laos. The additional Tibet permit is about 400$ extra per vehicle. And the route is supposed to be stunning. I drove half of it in 2009 and it blew my mind.

But if our existing group of three will not find any other buddies and you would stick to your Mongolia entry we could think of a similar route entering Kazakhstan. Mongolia I think would be very off plan for us but not impossible.

If the both of you would join, we would roughly be at 2800$ per Bike and 4000$ for the car for a 30 day crossing. But compensations for hosting the guide in the car can surely be arranged.

As well as shortening up the trip to 25 or even less days. Although this will not have a drastic impact on the price if our group consists of potential four bikes and one car.

Let me know what you think.

Kind Regards
Martin

Hi Martin,

We have a little bit changed our plan. We will cross China in june 2017 for around 30 days, from Kazakstan-Kirghistan to Laos.

An another car will join us for sure, a couple of french.

We have already checked with the chinese agency Chengdu Greatway because it is the cheaper. For 29 days, it costs 7471€ for 2 cars, 8449€ dor 3 cars, 9328€ for 4 cars, 10330€ for 5 cars. What do you think about it? We can send you the quotation by mail.

We keep in touch,

Cheers,
Chan and Moy

Hello everyone
We connected to a large group of total 12 participants. four Aftica Twins and four 4x4. Entering from Kasachstan mid June and exit Laos mid July.
Due to the size of the group we decided to colse it.
Thanks HUBBers for all your help!
