Still in Quito?
 

Are any of you guys still in Quito? Im curious to know if anyone is still here heading south through Ecuador and/or Peru in the next few weeks.

I just arrived in Quito 2 days ago and an I´m considering buying a bike to head south rather than travel by bus.

MOCOA - Putumayo border Ecuador-Colombia
 

Some information :
From Ecuador to Colombia and other way around there are 2 ways :
You can either go to Pasto then Ipiales and then cross the border to Ecuador.
You can also go through Mocoa and then go south to Puerto Asis to the border in San Miguel. This is shorter but the border can only be crossed during daytime!
Living as a European in Mocoa - Putumayo, I can asure you it is a very safe area very relaxed and motor friendly.
If something happens in te south of the department it is always against police or military. Travelling is no problem for tourists.
You can stay and see some beautifull things in Mocoa, in the new hostel Casa del Rio, run by a Belgian.. that's me yeah :)
