Hi All,

Two of us are planning to leave Southern Spain in our Nissan Patrol on 3 January, driving to Senegal.

Initial departure is a little earlier from the UK

Anyone leaving around that time we'd be happy to catch up!

From there the plan is to leave the car in Senegal for a while as we have to go home and do some work... then return around 2 months later to continue on to Nigeria... and then who knows!

I guess we'll see how we get on once we're on the road though for how far we get or how many trips we make!

All the best

Tariq

Hi everyone.

I left home on a little Hinda C90 to do round about the same route as you guys. I'm currently in Dakhla, Western Sahara, and seeing as its taken me nearly 3 months to get here no doubt some of you will catch me up. I'd be up for a few beers on some travelling together if any of you are.

And thanks for the visa info, Thimba, that will all come in very useful.

All the best,

Liam.

Hi den and mandy, Hope your travels are going well.
Yea you can get all your visa's along the way all the way to Cape Town.
If you look at the message from divelandy he has sent some visa information.
Safe travels

NB: we were almost turned away at the Benin border this morning. They would only give us a 2 day transit visa after originally telling us that we'd need to return to Lome and get a visa...

West coast to Cape Town

Thanks Jc for the wishes and many thanks to Divelandy for the info on visas some visas we'll have to get different to yours but hopefully all should be ok.
We're currently staying in The Gambia until our daughter comes to visit in Feb then we should be looking at moving on.
Good luck to all.
Den
PS I take it you managed to get through at Benin.

Just made it to Cameroon. No problems in Nigeria, though we were stopped fewer times on a motorcycle than if we were in a car. Lots of "something for me", but no problem when declined.

Hope to catch up with most of you along the way
Unfortunately Adritay on his XT660 won't be joining me on the trip as he has just found out that he has cancer. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

anybody in the gambia?

in banjul for a while, is anyone around????

divelandy 20 Jan 2014 14:24

I've just made It to Namibia after coming down the West coast. Gabon and the Congo's are hard work, especially if you take the crossing at Luozi.
I'm just happy to have electricity and running water, never mind junk food and supermarkets.

Look forward to hearing how you get on.
