May I have some help sourcing a used DR650 in the USA?

Living in damp-rock (UK) trying to source a used but newish Suzuki DR650 in the states to ship over here as they are no longer sold in the UK.
I can read classifieds off the net but can't obviously view a bike so was wandering if anyone stateside could flag up a 2012/15 low milage DR which looks like a good buy and p-message me here. I would be more than willing to return favours or pay as this is the only way I can see to get hold of a simple light travel bike platform.

Cheers
alan

Here are a few examples from the northwest US. You should come over and ride some and ship the bike back.

If you see any on craigslist New York City. I can take a look at them for you. I may be able to help with shipping too, though mainly to Europe mainland for about $400. Not sure if this service goes to Britain or not.

If you make a more meaningfull title to your post than just "help" you may get even more help. Also makes reading the forum alot more enjoyable for everyone, since you really don't "need" help, like an actual emergency situation :-)

Where you need to go is here: Adventure Rider

This is THE american forum. Make a post there and I think you will find someone.

I actually found a guy there who bought a bike for me, picked it up and registered it in my name and held it for me for a couple of months before I came over there and drove it to Argentina. He was an ex-brit by the way.

Best of luck with your purchase

If only I had the time and the money I would love to do that but it would cost a small fortune. Unless I am lucky enough to get a recommended bike I will have to pay a little extra and use a dealer and trust their word as to the condition of the bike

no good

Sorry you had a wasted journey :scooter:
I just tried to edit the title to make you happy but I can't I'm so sorry.
Rest assured if I needed help with a crisis then it would be in the respective bike tech section or paperwork section or whatever. I am actually asking for help as I am going with friends on a trip to Morocco early next year and need to buy a bike asap.
Once again apologies for making you read my post then forcing you to analyse and then criticise it. I often wonder where would we be without folks such as yourself keeping everyone in line

peter-denmark 30 Jul 2015 07:34

Well sorry for wasting your time then. I still mean what I said. Veteran hubbers (whom you rely on to answer the question) usually arent offended by meaningless headings but it is nuisance.

I am not going to comment on your remarks about my friendly advice

Good call. I do sometimes read ADR but didn't think to post this problem on there as HU is my default travel forum. I'll do it now.

Shipping firm KINGSTOWN

Not Seen this outfit on here but had a very good conversation with them yesterday about shipping bikes. They ship from ports all around the states and for some reason shipping from the west coast is no more expensive than the east?! As well as the shipping the guy said he could arrange transport from a dealer to the port and when the bike arrives in Blighty I would pay them only as they take care of the vat and import duty admin. Brilliant. Cost, £600
I told the guy to check out this site which he did as we spoke. I suggested to him that a spot of regulate advertising on here would no doubt bring him a lot of other business as people ship their bikes all the time when travelling. Grant if you're reading this it might be worth contacting them?
Apologies if all this has been done before but if it has I didn't spot it so they need to use BIGGER adverts!!

Throw a W in the next one if you've still got your eraser out. It's Kingstown :thumbup1:
