Seein' as you've asked nicely Chris, I will behave! ( Just) ......:innocent:

PS What is a "Super' Moderator? as opposed to a 'Normal' Moderator?
By the way, this is an HONEST question, not a wind up, OK?

Job titles

With ref to job titles, Grant decides the naming. "Super" is his choice. As far as I'm aware I have similar user rights to "Administrators" (i.e. Grant and Susan): All the usual stuff and in addition the ability to delete/edit posts, ban users etc.

Yours,
Super:cool4:

My other ride.......ing in the rain....

My other ride's a 6200 HP Tug and Barge working on the East coast and Gulf of Mexico of the U.S........ When it starts raining or when the weather gets really nasty (Like when my coffee cup goes airbourne and ricochets around the wheelhouse kinda nasty), the song of choice is Robert Cray's "The Forecast calls for Pain".....(I would have enclosed a photo for all you landlubbers out there but I haven't mastered the resizing and sending "thing" yet).

While I'm at it, I repowered my riding lawnmower with a Harley engine two summers ago. It still cut grass O.K. but now it scares the hell out of the neighbors dog and it doesn't turn very well anymore??? Maybe I should get a couple of goats?????

Riding in heavy rain, though unpleasant, is less worrying than a light rain which raises the oil and grease from the tarmac, making the surface really treacherous. I've been off a couple of times on this.

Heavy rain carries away all this stuff, though aquaplaning etc is a problem, and being blinded by truckspray, which sometimes is terrifying.

In heavy rain, I get off motorways because of spray. Lesser roads mean less speed which I find safer.

Hi Smitty,
Some time ago, another guy on here told me about "irfanview" - its a free bit of software that will do that re-sizing thing, but not automatically - you still have to play around with it a bit.
It's spelt out in another thread in here if you fancy searching for it; since then, this computer dinosaur has found that Microsoft can do the same sort of thing with pics, as can just about all of the range of picture editing software. Again, there's information in the other threads.
So, a pic of your "other highway" would be good - more pics the better in this website, to break up the reams of type, but Grant may not like that too much!!:rolleyes2:
Bandwidth, bandwidth and more of the same.

:offtopic: again

Your Both right & Wrong Cammy. Your Especially Correct on the last bit about getting off the Motorways! Trucks and Sidespray is no fun!

It is the First Few Minutes of rain after a Dry Spell that raises the oils & greases to the surface of the road, it will happen, Light or Heavy rain, same difference.
The only difference is, the heavier the rain, the faster it washes away.:thumbup1:

That is why here in Spain car crashes are GUARANTEED on most roads whenever it rains, Drivers here have'nt learnt yet that you wait half an hour or so for the grease to get washed away, and another hour or two for the Tow trucks to remove the Carnage!

You are right there Martyn.......
On the sublect of Spanish drivers it kills me(not literally...at least not yet)the way some of them leave it until the very very very last moment before taking the slip road from motorways from the fast lane.
Bless their little cotton socks....the ****ing arseholes!

Martynbiker 23 Jan 2008 14:36

Or Worse...... STOPPING at the end of a slip road!!!!! then pulling out in front of you when the only escape route is up their arse or in front of an HGV........

Living is Spain is an Instant 'Crash Course' ( exscuse the Pun) in Defensive Driving, we should run courses eh Dean? Valencia, Madrid & Alicante make London look tame in Comparison!

Have you been to Barcelona.....WOW!

You know! I don't think there would be any takers for driving courses here in Spain as most drivers seem to think they already know it all......just like Alonso Fernandez....is that his name??...Fernando Fromage!!!

You can't argue with that really!

One of the strangest places I've seen was Bassano del Grappa at the foot of the Dolomites, home of ex-WRC champion, Miki Biasion.

It's a quiet, sleepy little town one minute but on the route of an illegal street racing scene on a Saturday night. Everything from heavily modified FIAT 500's to a Chrysler Crossfire on nitrous. Good to watch, just don't get caught up in the middle of it in a hired FIAT Punto, like I did.

Bologna in rush hour isn't recommended either.

Banning IP addresses

Grant advises he can ban individual addresses or ranges of IP addresses, all of Spain if he wants...

wet weather

back to original post of riding in the rain.
i ride all year round and always wear the gear. somebody said something about making it illegal to ride in the rain! you'd never ride your bike in britain if that happened! i carry a one piece waterproof with me at all times but when i ride in the rain i am so cautious (especially on roundabouts) that i get cars right up my backside which seriously gets to me. they dont do it when i'm driving my truck!
