Hi Ted! :mchappy:

You know where we're going! Back to Russia this summer, northern route, then Altai and Tuva track, then across Kazakh to Kyrgyzstan and maybe Tajikistan if we have time (and the borders and Pamir are open!)!

Maybe see you somewhere in Russia on your way to Magadan?

Now, where on earth can I find an Acerbis fuel tank to fit the TTR250?????

Bit different to the Euro trips you guys do of course, 8000kms round trip, and I'm still easily in the same country. Not sure if that's true overland travelling or cheating a bit !!

It might be the same country but it's also a continent. Slightly bigger than Europe. Or so I was told. That nullabor crossing is an experience!
We're off to Spain/Morocco and Portugal next year for 4 months. Oh, and also retiring so plenty more travelling in the next few years for my wife and I.

Wife n I will continue our asian tour the beginning of 16, cannot locate cheap permits for VN or China , so we will do Thailand, Cambo and Laos starting in the middle of Malaysia. pretty much have all our hot-high humidity gear now.
Just some mods for the fz150 to improve an already fun little bike .
Will see how well we adapt to the climate after leaving here in Idaho n cool weather. If well , then southeast to northwest route, if not a reversal with hopes of catching one of the bike weeks, n SBK race. Still need to uild a list of highlights for each country, no tourist sites but just enjoy the culture and natural beauty of the land and its people.

Like backofbeyond my kids have left home and things are paid off so we'll go Christmas skiing with the kids in France as a sort of farewell and then on March 15th or so we'll ship the bike to NY.

From there we'll ride south to Patagonia. This may take six to nine months as we like to mooch about.

After South America we aim to turn right and head for Oz.

Coincidentally I just fill d in my EPA for the States today.

I have two questions:
1/ Will central and South American countries allow us to park the bike for a week or two while we fly home if need be? We have ageing parents and kids in Uni so something might crop up.
2/ I'll need a carnet for Oz and beyond but can't start one now as I'll be the best part of a year away before I get there. Can I start a carnet from halfway around the world, while not in my home country, on a British registered bike, a year from now?

Cheers

Sadly work and the need to pay for things like a roof, food and a son in uni mean our travels end up around the 3week duration but manage somehow to get a few in each year.

2016 will be Croatia in June, France & Corsica on the TEX in August:mchappy: and hopefully pyrenees in the 90.

Vietnam in my dreams..:( 2017

Regards all
Gren

Like most people I'm the same, work commitments, money, time off, there's always something that comes between the adventure, and this year there's no exception, getting married, girl friend having a baby, what next, all I need now is to get a big bill from the tax man in January,
Still on track to leave in May, ok I'll be away when the baby is born. I feel like I'm been selfish but then this has been in the planing for so long that I need to do it now, my partner is backing me to do it so it makes it a little easier, as long as I walk her down the isle before I set off, that men's I've got to make a small detour to Corfu to get married on 1st of June then leave to head across Russia.
Small price to pay,,, bless her,,,

No wife, no kids, no mortgage, no career and so far, no regrets. I've travelled and done exactly what I wanted for the past 8 years or so. Currently I'm half way through part 2 of a South America trip with no real end date!
