Hey Pat, did you sense that getting the Nigeria visa without a carnet would have been a problem? Planning on being there in a couple months.

It was the first thing he asked for. I'm not sure if it would have been a problem or not though. My mate is currently trying to get his and has been turned away in Accra they asked for a carnet also but they also wanted to see his residency for Ghana. He will try in Togo for it. So at this stage the easiest place is still in Mali Bamako.

Thanks for the info. I'll try for it wherever I can.

Just to update.
My mate got his Nigerian visa in Benin. No were near as easy as it was for me in Mali but after filling out everything they wanted he got a full 1 month visa. It was more expensive than what I paid in Mali. I paid 37000cfa his was 100000cfa. They said they charge what ever it costs them to enter your country. But from my experience Bamako Mali was by for the easiest place to get the Nigerian visa. |
Will arrive in Bamako in three days and ask for visas.
What is it when you write about a carnet? |
They asked for a copy of my carnet when I made my application.
|
No carnet needed in Bamako. 40000cfa for the Nigerian visa and got it the next day

Just trying to sort out a Nigerian visa for myself but flying in & out ... & STUCK :(
Am I right in thinking that I MUST visit a Nigerian Embassy once the online process is done? I'm unable to get to Paris which would be the closest one, my second option is to fly into Accra and go to the Nigerian Embassy there, if they'll accept me as I'm not a resident ... Or am I barking up the wrong tree totally? Can it just be done online & received on arrival at the airport? Thanks for any insights |
Latest experience.
Bamako, Mali. 65000CFA, 1 month, no carnet asked, but asked for driving license and motorcycle passport. It tooks two days. On the second day counsil went out to speak with me and started to asking weird questions like "you wrote in the application form that you heading to Capetown. What is interest for my country to let you in?" (and I hardly doubt that it was bribe request because all that circus was in front of other visitors and employees). I was unprepared for that kind of crap but remembered that everybody usually visiting Calabar, so I told something like "I want to visit Calabar and famous touristic places there". Council said that I should come back on the next day, so he will think what to do with me. Suddenly on the next day I came in and got my passport (and other documents) back with visa and without any questions. |

If you're travelling South there's one in Bissau, near the stadium somewhere. |
Can this Nigerian visa still be got in Benin?
Or in fact, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso or Niger? I am getting mine in Bamako, but my girlfriend is flying from Spain to Ghana and we are really struggling to find somewhere to get it for her. It seems like a nightmare trying to get it in Spain, if we can't get it in Spain then we need some sort of back up. Any ideas? |
