Carnet needed to take SA Reg vehicle into Tanzania?
 

Does anyone know if a temporary import permit is available for vehicles entering Tanzania? I am taking a SA reg vehicle vehicle up and would prefer to not have to get a carnet. Namibia, Zambia and Malawi all fine without a carnet but I have never tried Tanzania. Anyone know!

According to that you will need a carnet.

been there last year April on an RSA registered bike no problem.

Tip is normaly valid for max. 3 month.

Travelled up there by car in 2013 via Moz. As I recall only paid US20 at the border post for road insurance. No carnet was asked for.
