UK to Australia in 2014
 

So I the plans I have in place to travel RTW this year starting at the end of April are well advanced and I have had a long running thread going at travellers-seeking-travellers/uk-thailand-beyond-bike-2014

But having last minute re-think about the route... I had hoped to firm up some meeting with folks to share the KKH costs and complexities, but it doesnt seem to be happening.

Short of meeting up with folks en route or turning up at the border and hooking up with fellow travellers it seems a bit shaky

I have been re-considering at this late stage re-routing from my plan to cross Kazakhstan.
Instead going from Turkey entering Iran and crossing into southern Pakistan and India.

Has anyone used this route recently?

From what I have read and seen travel in Iran entirely possible these days

I appreciate that there are risks involved, but hey thats acceptable and recent events in Gilgit northern Pakistan is just as much of a risk if not more.


Any thoughts?

We are in the planning stage of a similar trip to start Aug/Sept.
One point to perhaps consider, if you head south, is the weather - you'll be in south Iran, Pakistan and India in the summer which equals rain and humidity.
