2 weeks nepal over easter

hi,

My little sister, my dad & I are going to nepal over the easter holidays & we are looking to rent bikes for ~10 days.

We dont want a guided tour & we bring our gear.

I have been looking around & found the bikemandu rentals page, but after some emails I wasnt really feeling like I wanted to send the guy I was writing with the deposit he asked for. I read some good reviews but some others that said they just gave him a different bike or had rented the one he reserved to someone else.

I considered just showing up & finding something there when we arrive, but it just being 2 weeks as well as easter holidays Itd be a shame if we found ourselves without any options.

theres also the fact that my sister hasnt been on a bike in a while and back when she was she was riding a 125xr bike. I dont think shed have a good time with a 500 bullet. Maybe a pulsar 180-220, because i remember them being reliable, quite low and light. however I couldnt find any rental that rents those along with some 350-500cc RE´s for my dad & myself.

We dont wanna do 5k in the little time we have. just a little loop starting & ending in kathmandu, maybe doing 100-300 km a day.

if any of you have any advice or experience that could help us find some rentals or some roads we shoulnt miss we´d be grateful!

buenas rutas,

There are at least 3 different rental shops in Thamel, where you can just show up and find the bike you need.
I was there last time march 2018.

Some experience from the past in this thread:

Hi m22a,
Try B&S motorcycles in Thamel ask for Babu, we have used him a couple of times and his bikes are always well prepared which equals reliable and he is very helpful. He also has quite a good range of motorcycles. !st time we hired 2 Yamaha FZ150 sound boring but were a heap of fun to ride even for my wife who hasn't ridden much. Have fun, if you go there say hello to him from Joe and Henrietta from Australia.

300km in Nepal is a long day unless you are in the very south of the country, running from Bardia National Park to Chitwan. Anything north is very twisty and slow.

April time is before monsoon, expect some heavy rain showers in the afternoon, some strong winds if you are in narrow valleys and you'll see the mountains at dawn, but they are soon shrouded in cloud..
