Riding Across Europe - one girl, one Suzuki VanVan - 12 000km

Hi Guy's I would like to share with you my story.
In 2011 I ride across Europe on small Suzuki VanVan (125ccm). In 48 days i rode 12 000km.
At the beginning there were: 2 girls, 2 Suzuki VanVan's, 12 000km but Caroline decide to go back home after two weeks in the saddle. Here yo can find notes from my adventure :mchappy:

Soooo let's start:

Approximate route: Warsaw – Budapest – Transfagarasan – Ohrid – Bar – Bari - Florence – Monaco – Nice – Cannes – Barcelona – Valencia – Gibraltar – Lizbona – Porto – Bilbao – La Rochelle – Luxembourg – Brussels - Amsterdam – Berlin – Warsaw.

Day 1

We started our journey! Greetings from Kaniów (Poland), we’re spending night with nice motorcycle family (Thomas & Isabell) : )
The first kilometers (miles) were great. Sunny day, empty road. Just two bike's which attracted the attention on a pitstops

Yeasterday we had visit extermination camp - Auschwitz II-Birkenau. It's unbelivable how many people were killed by Nizes in this place. After that short lesson of history we realize how we are luck that we live in free country.. and that we can make our dreams come true.

Day 2

Day 2

We had plans today to get to Budapest, but as it turns out... plans are made to change them.. :cool4: We started morning relatively late and we still had to do a few things on Polish territory... when we crossed border, we went in to the direction of the village Čičmany, known for its dark wooden houses painted in white ornaments. The route, which passes through the valley of Rajčanki is great. It is a beautiful road - ideal for motorcycle rides. Of course, do not run out of adventures, rain soaked us several times, at night we were looking for accommodation, gps suggest some extreme track and spooky place :helpsmilie:

But fortunately we found safe place to sleep :)

Day 3 Hungary

In this country at every turn someone offered us support. From small gestures, handshake-type... like old lady who didn't speak a word in english but by the gestures she explained us that when she was 19 she rode a motorcycle by herself. After another pleasant event that took place ... help of a stranger man in stretching the chain in Carolina VanVan's. (We rack with the screw over 20 min. until suddenly our hero grew behind our backs) :batman:
In our hearts for a long time gone stay another lady who held out a helping hand to us, when we lost hopes of finding accommodation. She open her house for us despite that she didn't have to much by herself.

For me this country will be associated with "spectacular" ride of Carolina, which caused me.. almost a heart attack!

Day 4 Romania

They say a lot about this country. Unfortunately much more harm than good ... why? Hard to say... how far it surprised us - with beautiful scenery, fabulous roads and the weather is great 32C... and this interesting architecture. We hope that tomorrow this image won't be disturbed by anything. We're going to ride the Transfăgărăşan route, which personally I can't wait to ride :smiliex:

best,
Veronica

Just wondering what your cruising speed was fully loaded up?
What sort of range does the tank have?
Did you add the full container carrier yourself?

Enjoyed your blog.

Day 5

Day 5
Last night we slept in Beijing.. yes, yes in bar called Beijing
http://ridingacross.com/?page_id=9

We spent another day in Romania. This country has charmed us again. Transfogarska route was the icing on the cake! Frankly every moto-geek should ride it. Fairytale turns and overwhelming views. Non-stop in Romania we pass on the road the Gypsy carriages and frankly we admit that this view fits perfectly into the landscape. Most of their passengers are festively dressed in regional costumes.

p.s.
We didn't even once met with insolent, aggression or hostility from the natives.
If someone is dreaming to visite this country ... don't hesitate - just jump on the bike or to the car and see by yourself.

Hi,
Well on a highway I could ride nonstop 100km/h but the best speed for that bike is 70-90km/h. Well the fuel consumption is... what can I say - GREAT in mountains 2.2l/100km and on highway on max. speed 3,4l/100km which is 115km/h.
I decide to add fuel container to feel safe and to be honest I used it just twice ;)

Day 6

Day 6 :scooter:

On our Suzuki VanVan's we arrived today to Bulgaria. Initially we rode with the skeptical attitude to this country. In our minds it was only the pit-stop on the route Romania - Macedonia. But we must admit that it was our fault - because this country is beautiful. Today, thanks to our GPS we "stray" and land into the canyon which was magnificent... we regret that we have to turn back to find a right path. :confused1:
Local road sometimes surprise with number of pits, sand and gravel, but the landscape completely compensate surfaces. Drivers are only less predictable than in Romania...

And how are VanVan's? Well, dear skeptics who talk that this is not the bike for this type of expedition?!.. We announce that it is! ... fuel consumption - a full loaded bike in the mountains 2.2 l/100km! A highway road's (90-100km/h) 2.5 l/100km and what you say? And to be honest the perspective of the world from such a motorcycle looks divine - why the rush, if you can safely go ahead, enjoy the surroundings and anticipate every day. :punk:

Day 7

Day 7 Macedonia

Into Macedonia we pulled with small adventures .. Karolina's lack of a "green card" could prevent us to enter to this country but a brief exchange of views supported by our big smiles and small flirting had wrought a miracle. Customs official let us in :blushing:

Now we look forward to have two more miracles... in Albania and Montenegro - keep your fingers crossed! Customs told us that if th police stop us for inspection we can have huge problems and pay enormous penalty. Well but we decide to risk it's better option to ride forward then go back the way we ride. :devil2:

BTW Macedonia is beautiful, has very good roads and a full "corners" nice people live here. Yesterday evening we had a small walk through Ohrid and finally we felt like in the Balkans - live folk music, boardwalk full of the people , cafes, restaurants occupied by guests. Ohrid is a charming city.

p.s.
I don't know how it happens... but day by day we ride after twilight. I know it's stupid! There's a lot of wild animals, unmarked sharp turns and strange people who want easily to get rich... in Rumania we were riding behind Mercedes with tinted windows and 3 totally stange guy's inside. In Bulgaria we were riding behind speeding Ford... our counters almost ended. We were praying not to lose him and stay in middle of nowhere... and in Macedonia we were riding behind old bicycle and some creepy guy... all thoose people help us with finding accommodation!! There were minutes that we were scared like hell... that they will rape us and murder... but they were just kind people. Lesson from that - don't misjudge people and ride by day (world in day light looks much more safer) :cool4:

Day 8

Day 8 - Albania

The border of this country we were crossing with increased adrenaline.. we sent one thousand smiles toward the publican, hitting him with a hundreds of questions just to distract his attention from our documents... effect - zero questions about the "green card"
Albania greeted us with a view of hundreds of bunkers and the damn heat ... 40C (104F) in the shadow!! :mad2: It's not the best temperature to ride!
We can't judge Albania because we ride the route Elbasan - Tirane, which beats a head tour in Romania but on the other hand.. people.. the atmosphere .. we felt "not well" in this country... from everywhere we felt some threats... Once we pass the Montenegro border with breathe with relief. :scooter:

Day 9

Italy!!

To Bari we arrive by the ferry at 8 am. Italy greeted us with hot sunny day. The first 300km we just struggle with the heat from the sky... and the road we were riding .. lack of shade, full of garbage and prostitutes - we didn't think that south of Italy would look like that?!? :confused1: When we reached the Isernia as if by magic wand views changed a picturesque towns full of narrow corners to the mountainous landscape ... and so to the L'Aquila.
We started searching for accommodation in this city, the GPS showed us a number of hotels, guest houses ... but to our surprise the city was under repair, well, we thought at first that they renovate historic buildings. After riding a few more streets we get hit that's not possible that they renew the entire city. Suddenly we noticed that there wasn't even a one window lit. All the banks, restaurants are empty ... something's not right ... then I remembered the press release from two years - an earthquake in L'Aquila ... we found ourselves in the middle of the city-like plan for the film " I Am Legend "... :w00t:

Day 10

La Dolce Vita... :thumbup1:

After starting morning with Italian coffee we moved into the direction of Pisa. On Suzuki VanVan's we wander Umbria, which delighted us with small towns and cozy houses with shutters. When we pulled into the Tuscan .. we were aware that unique moment... but the views from the previous region... it was hard to bet them ;)

As usual... we reached Pisa just before dark. And as usual we found accommodation by accident .. but who knows... maybe this places find us :D We stayed in Hostel Pisa which's a warm place where travelers from around the world find their pier in the stages of the journey. After the 460 km in the saddle we had to stretch our legs. We moved to the center which turned out to be divine! Full of young people, beautiful streets... and leaning Tower at night - priceless!

Day 11

Corner's Land

After Pisa time came for Piacenza, where the friends from Intruder Owners Club Italy Club warmly welcome us.
As it turned out the city Piacenza was one of the prime, which was founded by the Roman Republic - it had to guard the borders of the empire.

After the meeting with a pleasant and wonderful specialties of Italian food we moved in the direction of Nice by the route proposed by our hosts: Piacenza - Bobbio - Genova and then along the coast to Nice... and to be honest so many turns i haven't seen in my life even in the Alps and the Dolomites! There were thousands of them!

A Genova itself? This is a jungle-bikers! So many scooters and motorcycles... not seen anywhere else and you won't believe how they ride! That can't be described by words...

Great ride report. Well done and fine pics, indeed. When in Romania next time, don´t miss Transalpina. Another great road across the mountains and located only about 100 kilometers west of Transfagarasan.

Older than Transfagarasan but newly renovated. Great visit to visit Romania again.

All the best.

It's more than 4 000 km behind us... :scooter: Cote d'Azur greeted us wit lit promenades, sea shimmering in the moonlight. We also visit Monaco where we spent night, which was unforgettable!! Now is the time to relax in the sun over the water to recharge the batteries before traveling further. :Beach:

Yesterday Carolina decided to abandon from continuation of Riding Across Europe. Unfortunately... our shared journey was much shorter than I assumed...
I feel sick.. I'm confused.. because she left me just with words: "I ride back home"... with no explanation. If we would ride alone without patronage & partners I wouldn't be angry... but hey! there are people who put their trust in us. I decide to conceal her and we made up a story that she has injurie... sad is that after all she behave childish and start to attack me in the internet :rolleyes2:
I start to regret.. that I decide to take with me a total stranger which I've met on motorcycle portal. Also finally I saw that Riding Across Europe was just "my" dream and I take care of everything from the beginning. I was blinded by a dream and I didn't saw what's going on around me. That people instead of support, creat a team... just use me.

Last minutes together...I try to smile...

The irony of the 'Crockery tomb' shop behind you at this parting moment is not lost!

Try not to be sad- easier said than done- I understand-
Alas, many will see your dream and will want to be a part of it but always remember that it is not their dream- they are just along for the ride.

Alas you will feel 'used', even perhaps a bit cheated but now you will be able to recognise those who do this... It happens.
Many do not have your courage/desire/heart/ability/honesty etc and will always try to 'catch a tow'.
Don't judge but do learn to cut loose quickly!

Look at what you have been able to achieve for yourself:thumbup1:,
be proud and ride on
.:scooter: Life just gets better!
Remember that to grow a fabulous rose, you do have to surround it with cow sh*t! The rose remains, the sh*t disappears:Beach:

maluk 14 Mar 2013 20:00

Mr. Bertrand clearly said everything there is to say about that...but still, that was a very sad and cold move from her part. :frown::angry:

Well, alone is not always bad! I am sure you already learned that :mchappy: I am glad to see that it didnt took away your dream. I have tons of respect for you young lady :punk:

Monaco

I try to soak up every moment... because I know that everything is happening "here and now" and will never happen again... Yesterday I visited Monaco, one of the smallest countries in the world. It enchants his charm and splendor and "these" cars on the road! You do not know whether to look at the sea or on the passing cars.

I ride through the streets where's the Formula 1 Grand Prix - and the feeling... priceless, even VanVan seemed to be more.. predatory. Could riding alongside sports cars gave him wings?!?

I will stay few more days at cote d'azur as i planned before... and later... I ride on! :devil2:
I waited too long to realize the dream.. when? if not now!!

Nice

Nice is a magical place! Yesterday I circled the streets of the city looking for Suzuki service. In first guy laughed at me... he stated that the free time to do the warranty service is only after three weeks i didn't commented that fact :( and decided to look further.. until I finally found the service HI BIKES where the guy's took care of me (or rather VanVan) instantly. Their reaction to the story of the expedition on a little "125cc" was great .. they took their cell phones and began making pictures with me & Mr. VanVan.

HI BIKES was magical place for me also from other reason. Just before leaving Poland. Agnes (Polish woman) mail to me with information she's gearing up for the first motorcycle expedition in the Cote d'Azur. Because of the sheer volume of events that have taken place in recent days I couldn't contact her (I wasn't in the mood to be honest) I knew that within this period of time she will be in Nice. When get to Suzuki HI BIKES some gal greet's me in polish and it's Agnes!! It turns out that at the last few kilometers of her journey she unfortunately invaded the curb and had to return to the motorcycle service.

http://ridingacross.com/wp-content/g...a/sam_6467.jpg

Coincidence?!? Some things happen because somewhere up there is so recorded or some magical magnets cause certain events... :biggrin3:

I'm just somewhere in the middle of Provence in the house which has more than 100 years and was renovated by its owners - personally!! It's like a dream ... I do not believe that this is happening.
And this is precisely the whole trip.. You do not know when and where someone give a helping hand. Today I was grasp by the nice, young French couple ... what will happen tomorrow... time will tell!!

Pyrenees

Pyrenees

Another magical day...

Heavenly views, mountains in clouds, the road crossing the rocks. Small villages consisting of several houses... how to stop these fleeting moments? Almost all the time I'm alone just with VanVan no other cars and motorbikes on the road...

Now I'm in a small town near the border Puilaurens (Spain). Under th roof embraced me "crazy" Briton - Ali, who organize motorcycle trip's in the Pyrenees. He have already planned for me beautiful road for tomorrow. I'm glad that Suzuki VanVan likes the corners, because there will be a lot :donatello:

Hi LadyCruiser,

I enjoy your ridereport very much.
I visited Barcelona last year on my bike and I realy liked that city. Riding in the Pyrenees is also beautifull. If you have a chance, you should visit the monastery of Montserrat. A monastery high in the mountains of the Pyrenees. The road to it is a wonderfull road.

Good luck with your trip.

Valencia

After spending wonderful time in energizing Barcelona, it's time for Valencia and it's hard to believe that this city is in the shadow of Barcelona. It has beautiful architecture, plenty of cafes, restaurants... it's ideal place for a weekend.

And how's the riding... well the sun heats well but the breeze from the sea cools the air. Today I was bitten twice by the bee in the neck  (good that on the side not centrally...) I just realized that I could be in real trouble!! So today I decided to wrap tightly my neck by scarf. Even at the expense of a few extra drops of sweat...
Tomorrow I'm heading further towards Cartagena.

Bella Vista

It's amazing how quickly views have changed... I drove by the regions, which have more resembled a sun-scorched Africa than the south of Europe.
I spent the night at camping, where I've met several interesting travellers. Additionally I could "reset" on the fresh air. Just me and the bike... :stuart:

Marbella

I spent night in a house of charming polish woman who lives in Spain for more than 33 years. She showed me Marbella... This city resembles Cannes (France). It is full of exclusive boutiques, you can see on the streets Ferrari, Rolls-Royce or Bentley..
But my attention attracted only architecture of this region. White Andalusian-style houses! :mchappy:

BTW I can listen for hours history of life of my hosts.

Gibraltar!!

Yesterday, I arrived at Gibraltar with the Shogun (Suzuki VanVane). I'm glad that I had a "little" baggage, because it was soooo windy. If the VanVan wouldn't be loaded I would certainly write to you from Morocco

It was a special day for me because I crossed the halfway point of travel - 6 000km!! Now I can say that I'm "coming home".. I can't wait for next kilometers... probably a lot of adventures, fabulous sceneries are waiting for me... and lots of great people to meet.

Seville

Fate again smiled to me :D Members of the Suzuki VanVan Moto Club took care of me in Seville. And everything happened quite by accident - the true magic of motorcycling! Do you remember guy in red t-shirt who I've met on the gas station? Paco wrote about me on the forum of his club... and boom!! "you've got mail!!" :w00t:

All the spanish cities are different... So far.. the most charming for me was Seville. Which despite many historic sites doesn't lose youthful vigor, thanks to its residents. The city is the capital of Andalusia, which is full of fabulous views, which will always remain in my memory. :punk:

Hi Dave :)
Great adventure waiting for you!! If you will need help in Poland just mail! I recommend you to visite also Cracow, Wieliczka Salt Mine and Castle in Pszczyna with nice market (it's very close from Auschwitz).
And if you like history and IIWW you have to visit in Warsaw - Warsaw Rising Museum http://www.1944.pl/about_museum/visit/

"Had" - this particular trip was during 2011, IIRC.

LadyC,
I'm just curious about what time of year you travelled - presumably during the summer but in which months?

Also, you carried camping gear (there is a mountain of gear on the bike!) but you were riding into hours of darkness which you don't recommend - why did that happen so often?

Finally, what do you think of the GoClever GPS - the hardware (is it water resistant?) and the maps?

Caio,

Caio,

Hi,
I started my trip in first week of September. Whole trip last 48 days (I spent one week in Nice, France). Why I was riding after twilight...? You can try to plan everything but reality it's much more different. I was lucky that nothing happend to me :) I used my camping gear few times... mostly i slept in hostels and in "couchsurfers" homes.
I get GoClever GPS as a present from my family and I love it! Easy to use, waterproof... of course it sometimes surprise me with proposition of route while option "avoid highways" :smiliex: but it was ture adventure and riding to the unknown. BTW My friend uploaded me maps of Europe (automaps).

If you have more questions.. just ask! ?c?

Thanks!
That is a great month to ride in Europe: the kids have gone back to their school desks, their parents have done much the same thing from their annual holidays and the roads have more room, once again.

I would have gone for wild camping, on the side of the road if necessary, rather than continuing to ride when tired and into the darkness.

Portugal

Portugal welcome me with the strong wind... I felt pain in my neck...
The magic of the ocean caused the desire to rest. I found a cozy camping where I stayed for two days... staring at the waves crashing on the cliffs. :biggrin3:

Cabo de Roca

Cabo de Roca

Cabo da Roca is western most extent point of the continental Europe. Yesterday along with Suzuki VanVan - we gained him :scooter:

The surroundings are fabulous and Sintra located right next to... is a completely different world! Having in itself something mystical... what a pity that I didn't have time to see it closely. There streets are so steep and narrow that while riding I didn't have even a chance to take a pictures to the nicer buildings, because either there is a risk of falling or collide another vehicle.

The whole day was a challenge for me... because I had to ride over 500 km with a tour of the sightseeing it's really a lot! and this temperature!!

They closed hostels in Porto at 23!!... I started to think how will I make it as I began to struggle with fatigue and sometimes with my own weaknesses. Once I have arrived to Porto, I found myself in a square: "well, nice and where is the hostel?!?" I started to climb the stairs, where there was no end.. The two old ladies came up with help.. and at 22:40 I was able to check in - in StepHouse. But it was not the end! Hostel was about 200 stairs from where I leaved VanVan and my luggage. Buy hey! there was no time for whining... when I brought all my luggage to the top.. I did not want to sleep, my heart was pounding as mad from the effort. I admire people from this city, who walk thoose paths every day in the heat.

Porto

„Port Cale”

Porto is a city that doesn't have to prove anything! Full of old buildings, steep streets and the specific smell of the old buildings... You won't find here the urban noise. And for that.. I loved Porto! that people tolerate meddlesome tourists walking through the streets; because laundry is hanging because it's hung and it's not a part of the exhibition.. for its unpretentiousness and intimacy.

I am glad that after an exhausting day, I found myself in such a charming place, where I experienced a bit of relaxation. And VanVan had respectable place to have a well-deserved rest.. near the cafe, where elderly gentlemens play cards closely guarding him.

"Thermal Shock"

Yeasterday I had problems with finding accomodation I was even thinking on sleeping at the market in Leon (Spain) but thanks to Andreas who I met in Seville I found pilgrim house. bier

For the stupidity you have to pay... just like that I can sum up my today's ride... I went from Leon (Spain) dressed in summer clothes... set of warm linings for jacket and trousers were deeply hidden in bags, including the divine isothermal clothing from Vanucci! And so pleased with the next day of the expedition, I was making more kilometers until I drove into the mountains, and the temperature dropped drastically, but I was thinking 140 km that's nothing for me?!?... And from laziness instead of stop and extract these precious (nice and warm) stuff that I have with me... I was riding further..., ehhh well good that I have founded heated grips, otherwise I'd probably gnashed my teeth! :oops2:

And so I survived from the thermal shock, yet two days ago I was traveling at 38 C and now 16 C today; / "gold autumn is coming!?!" :surrender:

San Sebastián

San Sebastián

Today I had the opportunity to visit San Sebastian on a saddle of spaniard (Julio) VanVan's, who is crazy like a fox rider from Suzuki VanVan Moto Club.
Duo of lunatics ("loca, loca, loca ..." - as Shakira sings) riding in the rain and sightseeing city... it probably had to be an unusual sight, but comment on it so those were priceless moments and for the rest you will pay by.. (you know what ;) :thumbup1:

p.s.
My Shōgun at that time went through an overview of the Suzuki service, which I won't rather remember good or rather the account (extortion) compared to this in France ... ;/

Loire Valley

Loire Valley

This morning I had a dilemma whether to get on a motorcycle or stay one day longer in hostel... Riding a motorcycle when you have cold it's not the coolest thing on the other hand I know that laziness can badly affect on me so... fast decision I jumps on Suzuki VanVan and I ride further... to admire the "Loire Valley"!

And as it turned out it was probably the right decision, because riding a motorcycle not only improves mood, but also gives power...
One thing is for certain! Cities, towns, villages in the central part of France have a charm! :blushing:

over 500 km of drizzle...

over 500 km of drizzle...

I spent the night in a hostel. In the morning I packed quickly, because there was more than 500 km to ride in the weather not so friendly for "summer" riding. GPS initially set on a shortest path without highways and so I drove through the picturesque towns for 80 km. I would willingly ride so on... if not the speed. In most of these towns zone speed was 30 km/h. Therefore I quickly switched GPS to a more optimal roads, because low temperature, wind and drizzle rain weren't the best conditions to ride a motorbike at night.
And unfortunately the rain didn't even forgave me for a while. Well my motorcycle set jacket and pants (Modeka Nica & Modeka Stela) with all linings they made it on A+ (5+) and I didn't have to worry about the fall aura, although I do not know why but this "French wind" always finda gap between gloves and sleeves... yikes! maybe that was a matter of my cold and for every even the smallest temperature difference I was more sensitive than usual! :nuke:

At the border of Luxembourg I arrived just before 20 (8pm), when it was getting dark. That day polish family took care of me - they greeted me at the threshold with hot tea and a warm meal (it's great that "the motorcycle family" is so big) As it turned out, "master of the house" have in the garage Suzuki Marauder 125ccm :thumbup1:

p.s.
I think I will stay with them for a few days longer to heal...

Who said that every city must be visited with a guide in hand... that we should focus on the crowded tourist attractions? I instead of "Manneken Pis" (peeing boy) I saw "Jeanneke Pis" (peeing girl), toured the prison (just outside!!) I walk through a street of butchers and instead of fries with mayonnaise.. I ate Brussels waffle!
And all thanks to my host (Harley rider) who showed me a city.

I once again realized that the we can count on the "motorcycle brotherhood".

Berlin

Yesterday I crossed German border.. this country welcomed me with wind, rain, hail and storm!! Not bad. :helpsmilie: :eek3:
And in the evening I couldn't find accomodation. All hostels were booked. I was tired, exhausted and wet. For the first time Ive had enough of riding. No! I was fed up with it!! But thanks to one lady I found warm bed in other city.

Next day I wake up at dawn, according to the rules of the pilgrims house... I jump on a motorcycle at 9:00. Before starting the engine I looked at the sky and I asked myself would it be gracious to me today? I decide to take a chance and I did't put on a rain suit and shoe protectors.

As soon as I go out from the hostel I saw dark clouds ahead and my comment was brief: "oh shit Shogun... again!?" Fortunately after a while gps showed me the road into the sun, which shone only for the first 30km then I begun to struggle with temperature, which was 5C (as it seems to me, "in the sun", which have been overshadowed by the clouds... wet asphalt, moisture in the woods that I passed made it feel like I rode in the frost.)

After every 60km I tried to make a short stop on a petrol station's, to drink something hot. At some point after 90km (losing hope for the station) I stoped in shares of desperation at the roadside bar I asked for tea, lady nods in the negative way, but then she proposed: "maybe soup?". I chose goulash, as this looked the most "human" dish in this place... just to warm up. And so from stop to stop I reached Berlin! When I saw in a front of me the Brandenburg Gate on my face again appeared smile, because I recall why I decided to make this trip... not for an "exclusive" all-inclusive vacation with "guaranteed" weather.

"Riding Across Europe - "realize your dreams, because life is an adventure." :mchappy:

Poznań :D

When I crossed the Polish border the joy overwhelmed me. I'm almost at home, I can almost say "succeeded." But with cheers of joy I have to wait more than 300km because I decided to stay last night of this trip in.. Poznan.
The city surprised me very pleasantly compare to Berlin. Old Town is beautiful, full of clubs, cafes, young people. On all sides you hear languages from around the world.

p.s.
The day before I got an email from another Polish rider who wanted to meet me somewhere near the Polish border. I sent him my number via e-mail, but then I quickly jumped on the bike and I was going ahead without a stop suddenly the reserve light in my VanVan I passed some "strange stations" where I didn't want to stop. I started riding on the fumes, until suddenly I found a large station and what I see!?! I hear horn, someone waving to me. It was Mark who spent at the gas station nearly two hours waiting for me to just shake my hand and congratulate the expedition. It was a VERY nice gesture from a completly stranger. :thumbup1:

(If not the lack of the gasoline I wouldn't probably stop because I didn't read a text message from him, as you can see life directs us, so that certain events could took place)

12 000 km!!!!

12 000 km!!!!

All good things come to an end...
Last night I couldn't sleep as if I subconsciously felt that as I fall asleep then this whole trip will be just a dream... that I dreamed about those 48 days which I spent on the road ant they will blur like a fog.
And I will be still sitting with the atlas on my desk and dreaming of a Riding Across Europe. But in the morning I woke up with a big smile on his face, Suzuki VanVan had on his counter more than 13 000 kilometers (which meant that I realize my dream.

To the city (Warsaw) I entered on the VanVan singing the song of Czeslaw Niemen "Dream of Warsaw"...

my dream has crystallized. In Warsaw despite cold I was greeted "warm" by a group of friends. There was champagne, flowers, applause, cheers and tears of happiness. Thank you all for your support, for your help, for accompanying me on this trip... I felt your presence at every kilometer!

book Everything Starts With a Dream

Hi Guys!
Finally you can read my book "Everything Starts With a Dream. The motorcycle diaries" in English :D
If you want to feel the wind in your hair and taste a true motorcycle adventure during cold off season - it might be a good choice!! :scooter:

https://z-1-scontent-frt3-1.xx.fbcdn...f2&oe=576A196F

synopsis:
Weronika Kwapisz wants to inspire us to travel thanks to her fascinating motorcycle adventure around Europe. It is hard to believe that this petite blond traveled 12,000 km on a small 125cc motorbike, which most would liken with a tiny moped for the postman rather than an adventure motorcycle. But as Weronika demonstrates – to want is to succeed. “Everything starts with a dream” will lift your spirit for adventure and spark a desire to part with your job at least for a moment. The writings of this book prove that spontaneous events and unexpected road changes strengthen the human spirit, teach us to happily accept surprises, and love every kilometer of the journey. After reading this book, more than one person will turn their computer off and ride their motorbike to feel the wind in their hair and to see the world with their own eyes and not just on the screen. As it turns out, the decision is the hardest part of the process. When we make the first step, we begin to take part in the biggest life adventure and the road itself becomes crystal clear.

To order book send mail: contact@ridingacross.com topic: book
