Royal Enfield Tool box
 

Hi Guys I am getting ready for a long journey( 10000 Miles) in India and want to know what to put in my tool box for a Royal Enfield, I have a great one but its metric so I don't think that will help much.
Any good comment welcome.

what do you want dude, Spoonfeeding?? Good Grief, you pass yourself off as a Traveller* (see below) and then have to ask "What tools do I need?" to fix a Bike that is MADE in India and will be able to be fixed by just about any half competent Indian Mechanic you come across......

I guess you are a bit mad , I am a traveler and certainly covered more miles than you did in your worthless life .I never owned or drove an Enfield and like to know what type of tools to take if any special?,You may learn that each bike have different tools I found online that some part maybe metric some not?.I like to share info and not insult (like you). The post was intended for people with interest in responding if not just do like me and read the next post , I found a bit weird to be insulted by someone I never met but if your road cross Florida come to meet me and maybe you can appologise on your knee for your attitude .

Hi how old y bike, I have a 91 500 and 1990 350 most sizes are witworth, just go round your bike with a few spanners you will only need about 5 or 6,

Have done quite a few mods to mine 500 (amal carb, reworked samrat rockers, power box (no need for a battery)TKC tyres, trials kit, lower gearbox sprocket, engine rebuild etc, just about to fit electronic ignition, just picked up enfield panniers on ebay £40.00

I must say one of the best most fun easy to fix bikes I have:cool4:

My advice for any bike is to go get the manual and then do a full service on your bike. Keep -every- tool you needed to do that. plus remove and refit the wheels and tyres. again keep all the tools used. Carry spare cables, a chain, set of bulbs and puncture repair outfit... Not sure about the repair outfit, my last puncture on a motorcycle was in 1962, well over 100k miles ago. But, if you have it you probably wont need it.

Thanks guys , I think I will take my basic tools from the state and buy some witworth ones when I will be in India , you are right its always better to take only the tools you use to service the bike but since I don't have yet the R E I was trying to built the tool kit in advance.
I have a a friend of mine which is going to give me the manual for the bike and then I will be shopping in India .

I'd not bother getting tools for it before you buy the bike .. you should be able to buy then there. I'd take your puncture repair kit, the unerversial tools. And then pick up the others when there .. the bike may even come with some tools ..

Distance may well be short from one enfield mechaic in India too .. so if they will fix your bike for 30 cents while you sit back with a free cup of tea?

And tools weight a lot - how much baggage alowance you got on the air flight out?

Read some place that India will not let you take India bike out of India or some thing but Nepal will. Read to that there are different "class" of bikes and the ones for export are better made.

Id just have the Indian mechaics fix the bike wile your there. And pick up the tools they use If you see an odd looking one see if they will sell it to you. If not see if they know where to find one or have one made.

decent tyre levers. the one's you might get with the bike are weak, especially if you try and put TKC 80's on.

small multi-meter, if you're bothered about having electrics. though it might just open a can of worms...
