Or may be anybody know link for free download?

Dino Y 26 Oct 2005 15:36

Look in this site http://ursa.irk.ru/manual/
or search in google kle400 manual and choose in advance options -->pdf extension

Luuk 15 Jun 2006 15:13

still looking for a manual? i've got a kle 500 manual in pdf witch i can mail jou, just give your email adress, any travel experiences with the KLE? are there anny weak points? just bought one so verry interestet in your experinece

Kumuya 16 Jun 2006 09:53

Hi, Luuk, I'm looking for the same manual .... your offer is still up?

Well even if you asked Shustrik about KLE - I will try to answer you even if I have the 400 KLE - and I ride it only 3 months - in my opinion is an excelent bike - a little heavier for an enduro and you sweat a lot if you go off-road with it on hills and it's twin engine is a little slow on this terain .... and In city is a little larger to get within 2 cars at a stop if is the rush hour ... but has it's strengts .... for me as a beginner is a good bike because is not like ktm's to go on one wheel if you accelerate to quick. Even if I have cross tires is very stable on street, is very reliable and parts are at a fair price and speaking about kle 400 which is a Japan model all parts are Japan quality :thumbup1: and you can ride 300Km with a full gas tank :D but in city I notice that it "eats" more gas. Overall is a good bike if you go on road an soft-enduro - in hard enduro is not so good but I manage to keep up with a KTM 640 LC4 - I raise the tail as much as I can so it has a real enduro shape :biggrin3:

Luuk 16 Jun 2006 10:41

how do you rase the tail??? hardest setting on the rear schock?? give your email adress and i'll mail the pdf file to jou, mind you does take up some space so be sure you got room in your inbox.

Kumuya 17 Jun 2006 12:34

At my model I had 3 or 4 position for rear shock i put-it on the highest position and since I wasn't satisfied i extended a little bit the shock. I will make some pictures an I will send them to you to understand better.
But Since it's position is high I soften the shock to absorbe better - is not rigid ... my chain if you look at it in park position is like a little loose but when I'm on it ... because the suspension is not hard .. it-s in perfect position not to loose and not to tight - to allow rear to go up and down on terrain

And since I don't have 15 posts and I can't send you a private message .... I will give my addres online - claudiu.radulescu[ at ]gmail.com

Kumuya 17 Jun 2006 13:51

3 Attachment(s)
So on the up side of shock you have 4 positions to mount it Attachment 52
I made my extension on the bottom of shock Attachment 53
and now it looks like this Attachment 54

You can raise the tail without extending the bottom of shock by positioning the up-side of shock on the 3rd or 4th position (from up to down) but I encountred a problem when I first put on the 3rd position it was too low and the angle of shock was a little strange and on the 4th hole I couldn't put it because of the frame so I choose to modify my shock absorber to add lenght on it

Kumuya 17 Jun 2006 13:58

2 Attachment(s)
If you compare it with other kle's is really high ... I'm 1.90m tall and is not very easy for me to get on it, I have to "climb" a little :cool4:

Luuk 20 Jun 2006 09:58

i'll mail jou the manual today, your kle looks great is the from mudgard standart? mine is low but this look really offroad. anny know problems with the KLE??

Kumuya 20 Jun 2006 11:07

 Thank you very much .... I owe you!

Everithyng on it is original!!! except front wheel guard which is from a honda or yamaha ..... look for something that will fit .... Now you can raise your tail and make it look unique .... many people couldn't belive that this is a KLE or that you can do this with a kle .... on forums I haven't foun many good rewiews on this model ... But sure that those people had other versions - because kle is not a wide market seller .... are quite few kle's ....
But neither previous owner did not have any problems with it - and I know for sure because is my friend and I know each problem that he had with am Yamaha DT .... but with this one .... no major problems .... he only changed brake pads and oil .... and go a lot of off-road with it ... lots of crashes on hills and still it looks like you seen it.

So it's from 1994 ... has almoust 45.000Km, he ride with it almoust 30.000 and I ride only 1.000 - but no major problem - since he bought this bike from japan he only changed tires, once the brake pads, lights and .....oil ..... nothing to worry about. But once again this is the Japan model - KLE400 - I don't know anybody with KLE500 but since is the same thing only the cmc's are different I don't see why KLE500 should be worse.

And I started to tune up this bike last year - raising tail, cross tire on front and eduro on rear wheel, front wheel guard changed .... and it looks like this.

If I can help you with other stuff please let me know :thumbup1:

I can tell you one more thing: I noticed that some people on forums are saying that the seat is unconfortable .... Is totaly wrong!!! for an enduro bike the seat is very confortable ..... I was with an KTM and an Yamaha DT for 300Km .... :censored: totaly unconfortable .... my ass hurt for 2 days :censored: With KLE ... a real plesure for rider and passenger.

THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE is that is very hard to find parts for it .... maybe in Netherlands is not like in Romania ... but here is very hard + if I want something for it's engine .... almoust imposible only ordered from Japan, but fortunately except engine all other parts are as on KLE 500 so I wait only 1-2 months

I use Motul engine oil 10W-40 and for chain I use fully shyntetic oil for cross and enduro from Motorex .... and is first time when the chain is changed ... well I still wait for the entire replacement kit.

Kumuya 20 Jun 2006 11:19

Oh yes!!! I forgot! .... If is a hot summer you should check often the cooling fluid for engine ..... and since it recharges very well and fast the battery .... you should also check often the battery level if you have a battery with meitanance - at two weeks :( and add distilated water

kle 500 club

hi guys
i ve bought a kle 500 3 months ago from a cousin of mine in Athens, he bought it on 1996 and made 75000 km
I had to come back to my hometown Thessaloniki (550km)so i decided to come riding my new moto. So i did The weather was nice and it was a 5 hours trip with three stops.
When i got in my town i took my moto to a technician to tell me if there was anything i should change.
he told me that the radiator was completely empty .My cousin did not put any water never!!!
so i made a trip (average speed 140km/h) without any water and nobody knows why it wasnt stuck on the middle of the highway.
SO please can you send me too the manual of KLE 500 so i can start learning and servicing my moto?
i would be very pleased if you did.

I've got one

I bought a brand new KLE500 roughly two months ago and I have to say that the new manual says virtually nothing about servicing other than when it's due and that you should go to a Kawasaki dealer. It doesn't even say how to change brake pads! If anyone has an older more detailed manual, I would be very appreciative.

You're probably right, it certainly didn't look like a comprehensive manual. Can you please send it to kle_500@tiscali.co.uk

Also, I'm starting a KL series owners club for the UK. It's currently residing at http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/klocuk Any information stories or pictures would be much appreciated, all sent to the above address. I particularly like the way you raised the tail.

Kumuya 27 Jun 2006 06:22

Interesting link, I hope that in time will became a real help for KLE owners - especially KLE because I searched the net over and over for about 6 months until I found some info about KLE.

I sent you the manual

About KLE400 .... mine is a KLE400 ..... it is an exclusive model for Japanese market, only in Japan is made but on the second-hand market you can find it in Russia, Romania, a little in Hungary but mostly in eastern europe - especially in former soviet union.

There are no differences in construction between KLE400 and KLE500 only the engine is different. But I have same number of chain links, same fork, same look .... only a smaller but powerfull engine :w00t:

Thanks for checking it out, but I think it's going to be a long time in the making as I've been very busy of late. What to do you think about switching it to a straight KLE500 site, or do you think it would be too specialised?

Kumuya 6 Jul 2006 07:29

After serching the net for some months trying to find owners of kle finaly I've found this site and it seams that we "gathered" here a small comunity, very small ....but unexpected large and from different countries ...... maybe toghether with the other fine guys we could keep this topic or maybe make a new one to continue supporting each-other when we have a problem with our kle's.

If I can help you with something ...... I will !!! Just ask! I can help you with some pictures of my improvements, maybe some technical hints ... from my small experience .... I'm a graphic designer so ..... if you don't have time and you want some pictures improved in Photoshop ... and my free time allows .... I can help you.

What you are doing there is a great thing and maybe you can have succes with that site if it will be full of quality info's because you choose some Kawa models that aren't so known like zzr's and speed models... I've started some thing about KLE .... but it remains on my hard drive .... never put it online .....

:scooter: safe

thanx luuk for being so helpful, my bike and me are grateful to u!:biggrin3:
my bike burns 7lit/100km, is that too much?cause after the ttr 250 i owned, that consumption was a bit of an unpleasant surprise, except for that the bike runs great! oh, any tyres you suggest?

Luuk 12 Jul 2006 19:55

i can do 22 or 23 kilometer on 1 liter easy, just bought the bike so tyres, i don't know i have got metzled tourans, look great but i have no real traveling experience with them

Luuk 12 Jul 2006 19:55

muthaf9cka 12 Jul 2006 21:47

I'm currently getting 150km from 10-11 litres which was a nasty shock to me after my 125. That just seems to be the way it is and seems good compared to other bikes anyway.

I've just changed my tyres from the stock Dunlop Trailmax after wearing them out in 2500km. 50/50 dual sport tyres don't seem to last long on the road, so after much research and fretting, I've switched to Avon Distanzias which seem OK so far, but I haven't even run them in yet. They certainly look the part.

sural 17 Jul 2006 02:18

tires and bad luck

a tire seller talked me into buying a rather expensive set of bridgestone tires, suitable for on and off road but mostly for on. the bad luck hting is that i changed also the front disc and the seller gave me a disc for klr.i didnt look, i had it placed and i made use of it and tomottow i'll find out if i can get any of my money back (the kle disc is 300mm while the klr one is 252mm, sadly i learnt that a little too late)

mine takes 6,5 -6,7/100km in city traffic with a lot of stops and starts .... at long trips an on highways is at 4-5/100 km

As tires I have MITAS - are cheap and a good quality/price .... I have those tires for two years on my bike and are ok

Service manual kle 500?

At last!
Hi there, i been looking for a sevice manual and some other facts regarding the kle 500 -91 for a very long time. It seems to me that i finally found a place where the kle 500 is a well known bike! I saw that some of you have these manuals on youa harddrives and i was wondering if you would like to send one to me aswell? I´m also interested in a mechanical handbook for the kle in pdf. If anyone of you could provide me with this i would be very grateful. Have a nice day! / Daniel (Sweden):thumbup1:

U can reach me at jannil-2@student.ltu.se or kungafalvik@hotmail.com

Weak spots on the KLE 500 according to me...

The engine on a KLE 500 is bulletproof from what i´ve heard. Spareparts are easy to find when the engine is nearly the same in gpx 500 and er 500. (this means that u can earn 10 hp using parts from the gpx niiiice!) That will of course be on behalf of the tourqe. Anyway as long as you make regular oil changes you have nothing to fear from the engine. The only thing that need extra care is the drivetrain from what i´ve heard. The KLE is a perfect bike for longer trips in my opinion. Low insurance cost and low gas bill. The only negative thing with it according to me is the haaaaaard saddle. / Daniel:thumbup1:

Luuk 26 Jul 2006 14:47

Help needed!!!!!

Hi guys!

Still wondering about KLE week points? Well I'll give you a strong point :innocent: I had an accident at 80Km/h with a brand new Grand Cherokee :censored: that cut my face and I took it frontal without time to brake (only 2m brake) and I thank to those japanese who draw KLE frame. For a frontal collision at that speed it looks better than other motorcycles I saw at service. Only the body covers (those plastics - frontal and left + right are broken, head light, that tiny frame which holds the front pannel a little deformed, a flat tire, and the o-rings of fork and fork oil.
You don't want to see the Jeep!!!!!

Now I ask your help again! Do you know any site that has a parts catalog for KLE? I searched and I haven't found one yet .... I want to estimate my damages because on the hand of assurance ..... I wil not get all brand new parts :( .

Thanks a lot

Luuk 8 Aug 2006 21:56

shit, you had the really offroad looking kle 400 with the high front didnt you? glad your ok. shame about the bike, i havent found any kle parts suplier on the web, not a really populair bike i'm affraid, but if i find one i let you know.

Kumuya 8 Aug 2006 22:24

Thank you! All day I searched the net and I didn't found any parts catalog with prices. Alll were with contact us .... bla bla.

Yeah offroad look .... blue color meets blue Jeep (offroad look) and than a round of gathering broken parts from road:oops2: .

Thank you anyway.
I should pull some strings at service and put my hand on a parts catalog to share with others who may need. Because I see that the internet is not so full of informations

Hi All,
I have a 2000 model, 3500 km, KLE 500, however I have not got users' or service manual at all. Actually it is OK for me to change the oil and oil filter, but have no idea about air filter and spark plugs etc. I will be very glad if you could send me the manual that you mentioned in the forum.

Parts list for kle?

Hi all, Does by any chance someone know where to find a parts list for the KLE 500? I have the 2000 model but any year would be a great help. Cheers komm

engine vibrations

Hi All,

It looks like I've stumbled on a great KLE club here. I just bought a 2000 model KLE 400 about three months ago and found it to be ideal for the roads here in Cambodia. Everything seems rock solid except the front brakes. Can someone recommend good disk pads to use? I will need to import them, so I want to know they will be worth the trouble.

Also, I get a really annoying engine vibration right on 3,000 rpm. It smoothes out with more rpm and is happiest around 5,000 rpm. I'm guessing the carburettors need balancing. Anyone have other suggestions or experience with this? I'm used to riding 4 cylinders, is this normal for twins?

If I may... can someone also send me the manual? My address is stannard@netspace.net.au Many thanks.

Peter.S

Luuk 20 Sep 2006 19:38

correction, the only kle club, nobody seems to understand us or agree with us. but we, we happy few, we band of brothers must bodly go where no man has gone before.......(tacky music).

did you get the manual??

Peter.S 21 Sep 2006 15:36

Thanks...

Yeah, Thanks Luuk for sending me that manual so quickly and thanks too for putting the theme song for Star Treck in my head... It's stuck in there now.

Any suggestions regarding the engine vibrations at 3,000rpm?

Cheers,

Peter.S

komm_ride 21 Sep 2006 15:40

Hi Pete, I am not sure about the differences of the KLE 500 that i 've got with the 400 you have, but indeed I noticed a lot of vibrations when i first bought mine as well. I also had a suzuki bandit 400 (4-cylinder) before, so i think its just a matter if getting used to it. I dont pay any attention to it anymore. Also the vibrations on mine appear in slighlty less rpm. Other than that, if you find any good brakes solution please let us know! komm

parts catalogue

Regarding my previous request about a parts list it seems I didnt pay enough attention to the previous posts! Indeed endurin has posted a download site (
http://www.psytronix.org/xo/modules/...cid=34&lid=166 ) which has what seems to be the KLE-500 '98 german edition parts catalague. I have seen exactly the same pages been used by my mechanic for spare parts. No i can start trying to do some service on my own. Cheers!

i'm a rather bad mecanic, but the kle is a bit more vibrant than my former bike a ntv 650 so maybee your is ok? is the vibration bad?

Peter.S 24 Sep 2006 15:41

Hey Luuk,

I guess it's not really bad, just really annoying. If it did it through the whole rev range I would be worried, but it doesn't, just at 3,000rpm. Because it vibrates just in one spot it make me think it is easily fixed with some adjustment somewhere. I can't imagine Kawasaki would produce a machine with a quirk like this... There's another KLE for sale in a bike shop in town, maybe I will take it for a ride to compare.

I just realised I sort of hijacked this thread from its original topic.... sorry!

manual

Hi guys,
Seems this manual is very hard to find, I am waiting for my new KLE to arrive. Ordered it last week, I like to do all my servicing myself so if you dont mind I would really like that manual too if it is not too much trouble. My email address is redron@gibtelecom.net. This is a great forum for a new motorcyclist like myself who can learn from the more experienced biker!

Hi guys, sorry for being a pain in the ass but can someone please please send me the manual email address above.

Greetings to all

Hi guys! first, let me introduce myself! I'm the proud owner of a KLE500 (my second KLE). My first bike was...guess...KLE500. LOL. Currently my 2005 model is being submited to some structural changes, mainly for dirt roads (i'love climbing muddy hills with this motorcycle). Since i live in Azores, right in the middle of the atlantic ocean, rain as been converted into my best friend. Whenever i get the chance, i travel to Europe (costly, but a must do every year). It's very hard to find a service manual for my bike, especialy where i live. So, i would like to ask all members of the site if you PLEASE can send me one in pdf format to NFCRUZ@SAPO.PT
my first KLE was from 1991 and is still on the road with 96000 KM.
I want take my present bike to the 300 000km by the end of 2014 (don't ask, just a crazy bet with a friend who ownes a KTM Duke).
Thanks in advance. By the way, if anyone is going to Austria next summer, we'll meet for sure... if not on the road, at Vienna Police Dpt. lol

marlin.45 26 Oct 2006 13:06

Hi all. Picking up my first KLE500 ('94) this Saturday after what 'looks' like a bargain purchase on Eb*y and I have found this site after a search for info.

Now my wife previously had a Kawa EN500 - same engine as the KLE or 'as-near-as' so most things there look bullet proof. But........wait for it.........any chance I could also have a copy of the KLE500 service manual? :thumbup1:

I suppose to save individual bandwidth this could be posted somewhere so we could just give a link address? If someone sends one over I'll do it :cool4:

Hi everybody
I'd just bought a KLE year 1999, don't know if the manual you're talking of fits on my bike or not (I guess the engine is the same on the new model?) but it could be useful for me having a manual. Can you please send it to my mail?

Thank you

C.R

marlin.45 29 Oct 2006 21:13

I've changed original front disc for EBC one, and their disc pads (platinum), I have Motul dot5,1 brake fluid. I did get some improvment but not money worth.

2 kumuya: Do you have pictures of what did you do to raise that rear shock. I'm 194cm high and in desperate need of some solution (especialy for offroad trips). Thanks!

redron 30 Oct 2006 07:39

On first page of this topic you have some examples :cool4: so I will explain again .... where the rear shock is mounted at it's top you should have what is showed in first picture at post no7 in 1st page of this topic .... there you can change the high of your tail  if you are not satsfied with it you can do what I did :cool4: picture no2 I welded an extension hand made :w00t: and so the rear shock is higher with almoust 10cm than the original and I chosed this solution because on the higher position with the original shock I had problems with it's angle and the spring couldn't be proper installed. but on that position was higher than it is now.
excuse my english but is not my natural language and some technical words I find hard to explain

Good luck!

Brian L 3 Nov 2006 12:22

Thanks for uploading the manual Marlin...that is going to be invaluable over the next couple of months!

I have just become the proud owner of a KLE 500. It is about 10 years old [the A3 I think]. Currently it is off the road awaiting some parts so that I can get it through an MOT and get it back on the road. The bike is in very good condition, its only done 19k miles and seems to have been looked after, but it got stolen and all of the panels were nicked! Hence it has no fairings, headlamp nose-cone or side panels! I had a bit of a shock pricing up new parts...each panel is ~£200 [although they do come painted and with decals]. So my long trawl through breakers yards and e*ay begins! I am planning to get all the bits together then rebuild it with a view to getting it on the road after christmas.

It seems that there is a little KLE community developing here!

Brian

proTrek 4 Nov 2006 12:47

Yes I also saw those four holes on top of the rear shock but when I asked my mechanic he told me that unlike that one hole that rear shock i mounted on the other holes don't have reinforcements necessary to hold up shock. So the solution is to weld some extension on the bottom of the shock!
I see you have terrain tires, what's your experience off road now that he's 10cm higher (weight balance)?
