Looks like a fine venue to me. I'm definitely going for the room with the 4-poster bed.

It's never deleted - someone just needs to bump it every once in a while to keep it on the daily.

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if you could handle an Aussie couple dropping in to the mini-meet - if things work out for us?

I am not quite sure of our plans just yet. We fly into London on the 11 April, get my bike from Tilbury docks sometime in the week after - hopefully. After that, we can travel a bit in UK & Scotland if weather is reasonable. Otherwise we will head to Spain and return to UK when weather is better/warmer.

So how is the riding & camping weather in northern England at the moment? I hear its a very cold Spring this year. I am still undecided whether to take my -5C or +5C sleeping bag with me. Luggage room/weight is an issue for us with 2 and camping gear, so hoping to get by with smaller +5C bag. Any guidance from the UK locals on this or on suitable/scenic route from London?

Regards
John & Alanna

Skillo

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with you guys at all.

In terms of sleeping bag, it is cold out here, especially at night. This morning I pushed open the front door only to find that my car was frozen to the ground, the garage door was frozen shut, and the sun was shining.

In short lovely spring weather. My advice?: bring the warm bag, we had snow in April before!

Enjoy your trip!

In Scotland, there is no such thing as bad weather - only the wrong clothes

Hi Skillo
North England - otherwise known as Yorkshire or God's own country - is brilliant in April.OK sometimes it's not the warmest place around but the +5C bag should be good, you can always cadge another to double it while you're here.I camped in -10C with an old 13 tog duvet and I'm still here (yes it was nippy!)
As for route up here you could do a lot worse than scurry over to Wales and wibble your way up some sexy stuff then across north Lancashire to heaven!Have rafts of fun and enjoy the bloody Gatso's(speed cameras, all 9 varieties!)
Cheers,Lorenz.

Hi Both

Once you've planned a rough route, why not contact some of the communities before you get here? Some of us have gardens suitable for camping in, internet access, and can point you at must see places/roads.

Regards, Mick
