I would like to ask . which Helmet is the quietest ?

Hi Dazzer,

you'll have to speak up matey. I wear a Nolan N43 Classic (open face type) which is comfy but bloody loud at anything above 50 mph. However it's not a problem as I only ride Serows!

Regards

Reggie

I have a Davida jet which is also an open face and is quieter without earplugs than any helmet I have ever worn with. Even when people shout at you it is difficult to understand them, the downside being you cannot hear mechanical rattles when they appear but you cannot have everything.

Agree with Mark the Davida is by far the quietest helmet I have ever worn bar none and its just so comfortable. Can get a bit warm on very hot days though. I am currently using a Arai open face with a clear visor - its super light and comfy but very very noisy.

its not just the type, brand or model of helmet you need to consider..

I have a bmw system 4, it is quiet on my naked bikes, but really quite loud on my faired bike, and there is no way of adjusting the screen.

If you are concerned about noise, why not just wear earplugs - and then you can wear any helmet you like without noise issues..?

I have tried all sorts of earplugs and I cant get on with them, so need a quiet Helmet.

The New Arai helmet I have for sale is excellent but needs to be used with earplugs .

Have you tried moulded ear plugs? I'v used all sorts of ear plugs, but these are the best i'v used. very comfortable over long distances on M ways/autobans. I use a Aria tour X.

bier Dave.

Dazzer I have the same problem - cant wear earplugs, even invested in damn expensive ones they were uncomfortable after a wearing them for 30 mins or so, they have been re moulded, re trimmed etc by the company who state there are a percentage of ear types that find discomfort from ear plugs.

Hi Reggie

same here { or hear } I to have spent to many years suffering from wind noise. it maybe like closeing the gate when the horse as bolted , but better late than never,
been looking at the BMW or the SCHUBERTH, both are said to be very quiet.

Hope to catch up soon

Darren

Hi

I first tried a set of these back in 2005 they cost about £50 then. I put up with them for about 3000 miles and instead of just wind noise I get a vibrating feeling instead which seems to put me off balance.

They now do a kit on ebay for around £12 , I tried these a few months back and same problem.
I hear that the bmw or schuberth helmet are quiet enough to use without earplugs.

Avoid anything with a peek.

Get a TALL screen (if possible).

Helmets designed for sports bikes tend to be light and quiet. A tight fitting and snug visor seal also quiets things down.

My wife and me got the Schubert C3 + Scala Rider. Haven´t use my ear plungs since then. I gonne take them to my next trip only for caping sites and hostels ... In all tests its Nr. 1. Bit pricy but worth it.

Some people say that it looks like .... but when I wear it I dont care its not soooo bad. Driving arround with an Africa Twin and a flip up helmet ... who cares ...

Matt Cartney 15 Aug 2011 18:22

I have a Bell Jet RT which is weirdly quiet for an open face helmet - peak included. Quieter than my previous full face helmets.
