Sleeping mat - EXPED Downmat 7 dlx
I've filmed a review of the EXPED Downmat and uploaded it to YouTube - I'm thinking of doing more of these.... what do you think?

Well done.
It would've been nice to also show a foot pump, its size, and how quickly it filled the mat. I've been looking at the 9DLX, but haven't sprung for one yet. |
Cool! You are a natural mate! Lots of info. too. much better than reading through a dry report.

Exped down mat
Greetings all. Don't weave and wobble. If you can afford one, and are partial to a good nights sleep, the exped is worth every penny. I have used mine for a year, with four season camping, and apart from fumbling inflation technique, it has worked perfectly. For rough ground, roots etc I use a closed cell mat underneath to avoid punctures. I'm sure you could use much thinner packing material, but I haven't tried that. It does slide around on snow without a "dimpled" mat underneath, but on the other hand it would probably float if you were flooded. In summer the exped was also comfortable, without overheating me.

I've been thinking about upgrading to an Exped. Stephan |
Cool - thanks guys :-)
I may do some more then.... next up the Tranja I think. The EXPED is without doubt the best sleeping mat I've ever used - I took much persuasion to go for the 7dlx rather than the 9dlx - but frankly I simply didn't believe the 7 would be deep enough for such a large chap - but it's just right - a good balance between comfort and packing up space... not to mention how much more pumping the 9 would need. The foot pump is missing from the report because they've only just released it and I haven't got hold of it yet... just looked at it on the sites it's been announced on.... but the order is in! m |
these are great also ( the £10.95 one)

When on your side, do your hips or shoulders touch the ground with the 7?

Vary good review. Much more informative than a typed out one. Seeing a item being used helps me more than the instructions. :rolleyes2:
To borrow a saying from the UK. Spot on! |

@DLbiten - thank you :rolleyes2: |
In stock now..
Nice Vid Matt,
The trick is to not under inflate or over inflate the mats, if you have em too hard it can be as bad as having them too soft. For me with my 9 down mat, I fill it till its just firm and can be folded in half end to end with ease.. that does me fine. Can take a couple of tries to get it to the right point first time, but since I did been the best matt I have had. And I have a few in stock at present, came in on friday. Grab them whilst you can, they tend to go very quickly. Sleeping Roll Mats - Gearpac.com Expedition Equipment and Travel Gear |
Hi Mat,
The larger gentelman makes a good video, informative with a easy manner, I like your style. I watched the travel exhibition review as well, at the time I thought what a good idea for the UK HU meeting at Ripley this year, loads of material for you there. Keep up the good work Steve |

Grant has simler on the DVD2, Would like to know the web address or phone number of where you got it from |
Bought mine from Traveldri-Plus
|
You should buy it from Les at traveldri, support him as he supports us. You may save a quid or two somewhere else but Traveldri is unique, they stock the things we need and some things that are nigh on impossible to get elsewhere. Remember that they have been going to the bike shows for years and give good customer service, if we all purchased from the big boys the likes of Traveldri and Adventure spec wouldn't exist.

They work good

TravelDri
Bought mine from TravelDri whilst at Ripley. They're awesome! Expensive, but it's one purchase I certainly don't regret. Worth every penny!

Thanks for the review
Have used the 7cm in 3/4 length with internal pump for just over a year.
Need to take care with seating the air plugs otherwise it deflates overnight. For me I need an additional heavy foam mat in cold weather for insulation. Very light and very comfortable, just needs help in the winter. On deflation the down fill section evacuate easily, the foam filled sections including the pump area less so. None the less it's the best for lightweight camping I have tried. |
I use exped 9
Been using the Exped 9 and love it! Worth every penny.
