Hein Garicke or Alpinestar boots???
Ok I know the which boots threads have been done to death but cant find any on either the HG TRG CROSS 06 BOOTS or ALPINESTARS TECH 3 BOOTS.
I have decided it's time to get some MX boots for summer riding/dirt tracks since my Alpinestar Ridge are a tad too hot. I was going to buy the O'neil Element ones off E-bay for £60 but need to buy some other kit as well so may as well shop at HG to get the 0% credit. The choices I have pined it down to are the HG TRG Cross boot or the Tech 3. They have to be comfy to wear all day including walking around in. I doubt I will be doing any serious off-roading since my Transalp is fitted with more road bias tyres due to it being my commuting bike so what would people recommend and why? Hein Gericke (UK) Ltd. I would love a pair of SIDI COURIER but cant afford that much as a one payment since need to budget for a wheel rebuild as well. Also HG do a 10 months interest free credit.

DO NOT GET THE TECH 3s!
They're about as waterproof as crepe paper and their soles would be more suited to a bowling alley than a rtw trip. I have them and really /really/ wish I didn't. |
Would recommend the HG TRG's
If those are your only choices - I would definitely go with the HGs!
Just make sure you buy the new range (last year's is harder, not articulated and only about £20 cheaper.. ) - they're far, far more comfy, yet more supportive. They don't feel like they even need breaking in. |

A must to try them on before buying. = |
D'oh!
I just bought Tech 3s for on the C90.... :( |
Just put them on with thick socks and walk a bit.

Well I decided to go for the Hein Gericke boots in the end. Only to discover that from where I have crash bars on my bike and that the gear lever is bent inward from previous owner dropping it I cannot change gear with them on.
Therefore, could anyone recommend what Motocross gear levers will fit a 1993 XL600V Transalp since Honda wants £30 for a new Transalp gear lever and I want one that sticks out a bit more. |
No need to replace lever.

either sitting or standing.
Good luck, PS .... Few have them set up right. |
Thanks for the info. I have now managed to sorce a African Twin gear lever to fit. So at least if i drop it it wont bend in like the current Transalp one has.:confused1:
I've also got some braided brake hoses to fit front and rear. It already has rethal handel bars fitted. Just need to change front tyre to a tourance and at least i'll be abel to venture of the tarmac then. |
