Handlebar Grips. What are your favourites ?
Just curious what everyone is using ???
I like hardwearing 'Supergrip' ones. They aren't the best at taking vibration away but they last for 20,000 miles of abuse easily. |
Had these Progrip 714's on the DR for a few years, they have been very good, are wearing well and Id buy them again.

BMW heated grips on my airhead, especially in the winter.

they are not super squishy, but they are not hard either, definitely on the soft side, id put them at midway between the two - if that helps :)
|
Do you know how they compare to the pillow tops from Pro Taper? I like grips that reduce vibs, but don't want the foam ones.
|
Id say the pillow grips may be a bit softer, they are fine for day rides and Id use them on the KTM, but for a long distance dual sport bike I prefer the 714's as they do not give pressure points.

I'm a fan of Oxford soft touring grips. Nice and comfy and I've not noticed any vibes so I guess they must help damp them out. Plus they're only a tenner (£) ;-)

I need a set that will last 5000 miles of road and off-road riding. Riding a 650 single, the vibes can get you down :P |

I've heard that from friends, but haven't found that myself. Maybe tighten those quads up mate. You're leaning too far forward. :innocent::Beach:
I've ordered some of those other ones to try. Pretty cheap. |
The 714's have been on the DR for 40,000kms of hard riding and they have plenty of life left in them.
|
I've had the Oxford soft grips on for 3,500 miles no with no signs of wear yet. They are grey though, so get mucky quickly.
|
I'm in the same boat as touring ted, off on a big tour next May on my xt 600z kick start, some where near 10000 miles so need something that absorb as much vibration as possible, would like heated grips to, I've got some heated mats that I can rap round the handle bars then fit the grips if needed or if possible a set of grips that has heated grips built in that absorb vibration,
What's your thoughts on this Thanks G |
I only ever have the wrap heated pads under my grips. First thing to go on there.
