We have just done some successful filming in Tunisia and Libya using a helmet cam that my mate gaffa taped to his hand whilst riding. This gave him the added flexibility of being able to direct the camera at things to the side without having to take his eyes off the road ahead (important for driving through Tripoli - those that have been know what I'm talking about). Results were very good - incidentally, his cam allowed him to switch off the sound so taping over the mic was not necessary.
