Givi canyon grt709

Hi all
I'm a bit sad but l have decided to retire my oxford sports after quite a few years of overlanding. Now off for a year or two and looking at new soft saddle bags for my xt600e (she deserves a treat). Question. Have anyone used the Givi canyons for overlanding and are they up to it for long trips?
Cheers
John

I have no experience with the Givi bags, but I do have some good experience and heard a lot of good stories on the Magadan Panniers Mk2 from adventurespec. Have you considered these?

Soft bag comp

Never seen a Givi Canyon up close either, but I’ve just been closely comparing nearly 2 dozen soft panniers, from 50 quid to nearly 1000 for my next AMH’book.
Price wise, the Givis Cans are in the middle.
Will post it all here later, like I did in 2012.
A lot more options since then.

It seems to me one can now divide soft pans into throwovers like the Mags,
and quick/detach rack mount, like the Givi Canyons (and most hard cases).
On my list it’s about 50/50 T/O vs Q/DRM - with a few - including the Cans - Lockable.
Of course throwovers are best rested against and lashed to a rack too.

So, assuming Q/DRM-L is what you want and you don’t mind having to cough up for a Givi rack too (if you don’t have one already), as opposed to the usual 18mm ‘racktangle’, then I’d say they look OK.
A close competitor in this style is the Mosko Backcountry 2.

On the Givi website one thing that put me off were the silly pictures of stuff tucked outside or hanging from the Molle or elastics.
Speaks to me of someone not knowing what they’re on about.
No such silliness on all the other websites I surveyed but maybe I’m taking it all too seriously ;-)
