Caberg Trip helmet
 

I'm looking for feedback on Caberg Trip helmets.
They appear to stack up well for performance, looks and price, but nothing beats an owners view.
Only problem is that they're not available here in NZ. infact they only sell in the UK from what I can tell.
Can anyone recommend a good on-line seller who can ship to NZ.

I bought one as my first helmet, it didn't feel as good as the really expensive alternatives but needs must.
It feels like the chin part is a little close to my chin, but maybe i've got a horse face. Other than that I'm happy with it.
I would be wary of buying a lid without trying it on in person.

Have had one for 2 years and find it first class. travelled in India with the outer visor removed using only the inner, lovely and cool. Used it in the other extreme of Iceland and again found it to be ideal.

Best helmet I have had, apart from the earlier Caberg model. I think they are terrific value for money. Now I'm waiting to see how they rate with this new UK rating scheme. I certainly dont think that the more you pay the better you get....This 100 pound (sorry no pound sign on this French keyboard) helmet is good.

It is definitely a good buy. It is considerably quieter than other helmets in the same price range and the fit is perfect!

My only complaint is the venting. It is not the best but then when it is hot I guess you just flip open the front and ride off laughing at yourself for not realising earlier!


The internal visor is very good and easy to use while moving and the main visor seals well. Only been tested in light rain so far but no leaks!

Another alternative is the AGV 'Long Way' helmet (I know, the names a bit cheesy):helpsmilie: But they come in different colours to the E+C ones. I have just purchased a white and black one, approx £120 or less, initial feelings are good, it seems comfy and it doesn't mist up easily(I wear glasses). I will give it a good testing next week on a trip to Northern Ireland, weather forecast looks like the helmet testing type :stormy:
I also tried the new flip front from Nolan (N103 Classic-N-Com), it was way to close to my face, very claustrophobic:nono:

Just posted all this on another thread but have to say I'm pretty impressed too. I tried 4 flip-fronts on; Caberg Trip, AGV Longway, HJC Max something, and a £50 thing called a Concept.

The Caberg was the only one that fitted; in my experience, you have to try on a helmet before you buy.

Just used it for a four and a half day trip from the UK to the Harz mountains in Germany. 1200 miles including 370 miles of mostly autobahn on the last day (on a Bonneville btw).

The only hassle I had was the gaps by the ears which made it noisy. I stuffed them with two soft dishcloths which made them more comfortable and quieter.

I believe they're made in Italy so I don't know why the UK is the only place you can find them.

i got a trip to replace the V2 i scraped on the floor. cant fault it for the price, its comfy, light etc etc i know i'll never get a fullface without the internal sunvisor after having a couple with the feature.
oh & the matt titanium matches my exhaust :thumbup1:

We sell them in our place for £99... You cant complain at that price.

They have a flip down tint visor too which is very nifty. It doesnt feel as well put together as some of the expensive models but they are 2-3 times the price..

We sell loads and have nothing but praise. Infact, i just got one for a friend and hes made up with it.

They also make a bluetooth version for an extra £30. Great for listening to your tunes or GPS while on the go.

Also, you can buy them in the USA. I rode with a guy from Kansas who had one.

I bought mine and drove through both snow and deserts - it's fantastic. An utter bargain at the price too. The sun visor is not only brilliant in the direct sun, but acts very well when the visor gives up under severe rain (steaming up).

Plus, it makes you look like a helicopter pilot. Bad ass :)

Well . . .
I got one, it arrived the other day, all the way from the UK after a 3 month wait.
It fits me very well, and is comfortable. That risk paid off.
It's nicely finished and looks great. I like the internal sun visor.

But . . it's noisy (the usual air noise and the sun-visor slider buzzes) and it's prone to fogging.
It's quite a close fit between the mouth and chin-piece, so with the Scala Q2 unit fitted it's a very snug fit.

I realise thats not the helmets fault, but I think I may need to surgically improve the airflow (trim-up the chin-piece padding trim) and I won't be throwing the air-plugs away yet.

Overall, probably not worth the effort and wouldn't do it again if I lost it.

Apologies for bringing up an old thread, but HowieZowie, did you ever end up with the Caberg Trip? Your thoughts on the helmet? And who did you go thru to import to NZ?

Yes as I reported I did end up importing a Trip, and it's OK but I am not over enamoured with it.
After using it more, pluses are the fit, the finish, the look, and the internal shade.
The down side is the poor ventilation and fogging, the small space in front of the chin, and it's a bit noisy.
The other helmet I use is an FFM K4 flip and while it is nothing flash, it is just as good.
What stuffed the Trip import was the freight charge - 50 quid - ouch. The helmet was very well priced - 70 quid. Can't remember the suppliers name but google it and it will turn up.

Agree with the fogging - can be a bit of a pain especailly when its raing as the rain seeps in from the top of the visor if you have to open it a bit to clear the fogging.
The sun visor has been the best part - so convenient to pop it down when needed rather than having to wear sunglasses.
Chin up on a hot day in town - priceless!!

my paid-a-lot-of-money-for Arai never mists up, ever. it's also very quiet.

you do sometimes/often get better if you pay more.
