Boot Help
 

Bought several medium priced boots which didn't last more than 1-2 years.
Desperately in need of buying decent boots for overlanding.

Good reviews for Altberg, Sidi, TCX and Daytona boots. I am more on Daytona, though experiences welcome.

Looked at Daytonas and found out there are several Daytona models such as Daytona Touring Star GTX, Daytona Road Star GTX, Daytona Travel Star GTX, Daytona traveller GTX... etc
Prices seem similar.

Please help me to decide ... :welcome:

My first pair of Altberg Hogg all weather lasted over 10 years of almost daily use and my second pair are now 5 years old and still fine so I can recommend them, I cannot comment on the others as I have not used them.

+1 Altberg..... Plus u can get them repaired by the company. Don't b fooled by their plain almost boring looks they are comfy, waterproof and will prob outlast u

My daytonas are not comfortable enough to walk around off the bike. My Altbergs are wonderful. I've worn them standing up on 15 hr security shifts and my feet feel fine. I chose the non --waterproof hoggs as they are nice and cool in hot climates, and when it rains or the boots get sodden I wear sealskinz socks.

Always a compromise between comfort and safety through, but hey, I broke my ankle wearing sidi crossfire 2s.

Have had Daytona Trans Open GTX for many years and been very happy. No problem walking around town a bit, never do all day walks anyway.

Not sure what kind of riding you do. Daytona call it enduro boots but IMO they are road boots. To soft soles for standing up much and less protective than more offroad boots like Alpinestars Toucan or Sidi Adventure (have both).

As mentioned, it's a trade off, the better protection the worse walking around in :(

I used for few years TCX Desert, very good boots and no problem with quality.
Nevertheless no adventure boots will offer enough protection during crash.

I owned Daytona GTX boots some years ago ... not impressed. The boots were too soft, lacked protection everywhere. OK for street and great comfort, but way inadequate protection.

This was over 10 years ago, maybe they are better now?

I've owned many different boots, street, MotoCross, Dual sport. Think about what sort of riding you're doing and on what sort of roads? And ... at what pace?

My current favorites are Forma Adventure, TCX (various ADV based ones) Decent protection (but won't equal SIDI Crossfires) Both these brands very practical for travel and not too expensive.

You need a boot you can walk around in and boots that are easy to get IN and OUT of. Waterproof is nice but once your boots are wet inside ... take forever to dry them out ... Gore-Tex or not.

I'm sure the Alberg is great, not for sale in USA. Also, as mentioned, Alpinestar
Toucan is highly rated but expensive. Forma and TCX more reasonable priced.
