Another point. Bossie spoke about thin boxes. If you get boxes you feel are too thin, then I suggest you pick up a sheet of alloy and use it as a backing sheet to the side which bolts to the panniers. Road signs are quite sturdy, and some people use this material, though of course you wouldnt use such a thing.

I also went for Touratech racks and got the EIBC fitting kit which works fine. Also the reinforced banding around the top and bottom of my boxes is closer to 5-6mm.
