While motorcycling, I've hit a dog, several snakes and almost was wiped out by an emu which suddenly decided to run down the centre of the road towards me.
In a car I've hit birds, snakes, frogs, rabbits, a fox and a wombat in Australia. In NZ I almost hit a goat and it's amazing that I haven't actually struck any possums yet as they are so plentiful around here. However the worst of all was hitting a pedestrian in Sydney who just ran out straight out from a pizza shop near the side of the road, into fairly heavy traffic, ignoring the Don't Walk sign at the lights. I was driving next to the median strip. I don't know how he avoided getting hit by cars in the other lanes. The ambulance came for him, the police interviewed me and numerous witnesses and concluded I'd done nothing wrong. But it ruined my birthday! |
Killed a lamb in Argentina with my pannier (box, not soft bags...) while trying to avoid it. Sorry Larry!
Bounce off a Pakistani in erm Pakistan who walked out without looking, not that they ever do that much..despite me having a double horn. Minor collision with a Beetle (VW taxi variety) in Mexico who decided to do a U-turn in front of me. Again, my metal panniers did more of their good work on his front fender. |

:funmeteryes:Talk about hitting things on the road, 3 years ago I hit an Emu on the gravel rd just north of Mullawa WA at about 95 kph. I was on my sidecar unit when it hit the front leading link suspension, just a broken blinker light on the right. Then 2 Years ago I hit another one just out of Nannup WA at 110 kph with my 1200 Goldwing, I didn't even see it till it was 2 feet from me, end result bike wobble for 100 mtr's and me still upright. How's that?

Hi, hit an eagle here in Scotland, it was at the grass verge feeding on something and flew out into my path as i approached, bounced off me and the bike behind me. it hobbled off into the grass and i assume it survived as is was not there when we returned. Andy
