XT600 - Which model do I own ?

I'm new to the XT world. Bought a 2002 XT600E a few weeks ago and wish I had had one years ago. Trouble just now is I have been looking at various threads and bits on ebay and all refer to model numbers. Where so I look for my model number.

Thanks guys, :confused1::confused1:

By the way, the site is superb.

Thanks for the reply, but can it be one of these or both.

bacardi23 25 Jun 2011 23:26

it's the same thing :P

Just bear in mind that there are reports of some imports to Australia that have the 3TB engine in the 4PT frame/bodywork..

Put some pictures of the bike on here!

If you take off the seat you should see "4PT" on the airbox.

I thought all XTs had the model number at the start of the chassis number?

For instance, mine is 43F-XXXXXX. Therefore it's a type 43F.

Spot on. 4PT on the airbox. Thanks.

Since I've had the bike I've added a screen to keep the wind off the chest. Also put some hand guards from a BMW GS 1150 and changed the tyres to Conti Trail Attacks. These have transformed the bike no end, I would recommend them to anyone who uses the bike on the road only. I intend to change the fork oil to a heavier grade and insert spacers in the forks, paint a few bits that need tyding up (swingarm etc) and maybe add a race can.

Thanks again for all the replies..:thumbup1:

I've also bought some conti trail attacks for 122.69€ with shipping from Germany to mainland Portugal...

How do these behave on the bike specially on curves?

I find them really good. Only had them on for about 2 weeks, but I've done around 400 miles on them. Hold the road well on the bends, no tracking on white lines and the bike runs smoothly. The compound appears to be on the soft side so I'm not sure about how long they will last, but there is a good 9mm of tread on the rear so no doubt they will last well enough. I mean, it's not as if there is a lot of horsepower in the bike to worry about.

Hope you are happy with them..

I paid £145 for the pair at a local shop in Cupar, Scotland. Their prices are really keen. Fitting to the bike was £10 each wheel. Ride in, ride out.

bacardi23 27 Jun 2011 16:05

That price sounds good...
The next day after I placed my order they increased the prices on both tires

Without shipping charges they were 97.69€ (86.8£).
Now they've increased the price to: 126.50€ (112.5£).

+25€ on shipping and yeah.. you got a fair price :)

plus, it's gonna take some time for them to get here, not drive in and drive out like you :P

Sorry to have taken so long to reply. Photos also show the checker plate panels I have had made to stop my panniers fouling the wheel.

Looks very good, thanks. Great job those panels, I wish I had now a place to work on the bike...

It looks like you also changed the seat: any clues? I am thinking about it, although I got into shock today when they told me how much would it cost to get it ready for Swiss MOT.
