XT600 - Which model do I own ?
I'm new to the XT world. Bought a 2002 XT600E a few weeks ago and wish I had had one years ago. Trouble just now is I have been looking at various threads and bits on ebay and all refer to model numbers. Where so I look for my model number.
Thanks guys, :confused1::confused1: By the way, the site is superb. |
4PT or DJ02 ;)

it's the same thing :P
Just bear in mind that there are reports of some imports to Australia that have the 3TB engine in the 4PT frame/bodywork.. Put some pictures of the bike on here! Vando beer |
If you take off the seat you should see "4PT" on the airbox.
|
I thought all XTs had the model number at the start of the chassis number?
For instance, mine is 43F-XXXXXX. Therefore it's a type 43F. |

Since I've had the bike I've added a screen to keep the wind off the chest. Also put some hand guards from a BMW GS 1150 and changed the tyres to Conti Trail Attacks. These have transformed the bike no end, I would recommend them to anyone who uses the bike on the road only. I intend to change the fork oil to a heavier grade and insert spacers in the forks, paint a few bits that need tyding up (swingarm etc) and maybe add a race can. Thanks again for all the replies..:thumbup1: Attachment 4879 Attachment 4880 |
I've also bought some conti trail attacks for 122.69€ with shipping from Germany to mainland Portugal...
How do these behave on the bike specially on curves? Vando bier |
where can i get that type of windscreen?

This is the light smoked one. UNIVERSAL MOTORCYCLE CUSTOM BLADE SCREEN - SMOKED BLACK | eBay UK This is the black one. AIRBLADE UNIVERSAL CUSTOM SMALL SCREEN CLEAR scru018 | eBay UK This is the clear one. Straight forward to fit. Hope that helps.. |

I find them really good. Only had them on for about 2 weeks, but I've done around 400 miles on them. Hold the road well on the bends, no tracking on white lines and the bike runs smoothly. The compound appears to be on the soft side so I'm not sure about how long they will last, but there is a good 9mm of tread on the rear so no doubt they will last well enough. I mean, it's not as if there is a lot of horsepower in the bike to worry about. Hope you are happy with them.. I paid £145 for the pair at a local shop in Cupar, Scotland. Their prices are really keen. Fitting to the bike was £10 each wheel. Ride in, ride out. |
That price sounds good...
The next day after I placed my order they increased the prices on both tires Without shipping charges they were 97.69€ (86.8£). Now they've increased the price to: 126.50€ (112.5£). +25€ on shipping and yeah.. you got a fair price :) plus, it's gonna take some time for them to get here, not drive in and drive out like you :P Vando beer |
rampant lion, do you have a picture of the bike seen from the front to see how the windshield looks like? thx

Sorry to have taken so long to reply. Photos also show the checker plate panels I have had made to stop my panniers fouling the wheel. |

It looks like you also changed the seat: any clues? I am thinking about it, although I got into shock today when they told me how much would it cost to get it ready for Swiss MOT. |
Seat
Thanks for your comments. The seat has not been changed. Still the original one from new I believe.
|
Yup, it's the stock seat cover!
I did make a thread on new seat covers if you'd like to take a look.... Vando beer |
Foru 1 year I hadn't the bike, so in my mind it was more square (aka unconfotable?), so it looked smoother. Today got the bike for a short while -it is overheating- and saw it was the same, but with Yamaha written on the side... :blushing:
Thanks, Vando, I will definitely look at your thread. I have lots to do with the bike, it is not working well... |
hello guys i want your help.First licence 2001 but the engine is 3tb .Look at the frame pictures.

Don´t worry. Cilinders and most of the head says 2KF.
You can use an VIN decoder to know many caracteristics of your bike, year and place of fabricatión... You can use this Yamaha VIN Decoder @ Motoverse.com |
I cant find this 17 digit number :(
all the numbers i found was till 12 digits :( |
Pera,
Thanks for posting the link to the VIN page . How ever, it is asking for a 17 VIN number, yet mine is a mere 9 (nine) on my 3AJ and the nine includes the 3AJ. Apsogos has 12 numbers on his/her bike. Is this normal? Can you or someone advise as to why this might be? I tried placing extra zeros (to make 17) before and after the numbers the bike has, to no avail! My documentation says "declared manufacture was 1988, registered/overseas. So now I am a little bit confused. Although I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable answer to this. Anyone :helpsmilie:? Socks |
tell us an example ...too
|
Yes it's normal... you have to add the engine numbers to complete the VIN number!
|
Hello again,
the only writings I saw on the frame are : with small letters at bottom right : 4PT21182-00 at center 3TB184308. |
