RUS Biz visa and 'Bank Statements'

Working on my Double Entry (!!) Russian Biz visa, got the LOI sorted but now looking about picking the visa up in the UK and come across this...

"Introductory letter from your company (or from yourself if you are self-employed) <which I am> giving full details of the traveler, destinations, terms and purpose of the visit. Self-employed and unemployed applicants must show copies of their bank statements for the last three months.... need to provide bank statements for the last three months which have a current balance of a minimum of £100 per day for the duration of the visit."

£100 p/d i want a 3 month visa... really adds up...

Has anybody experienced this? Found a way round etc... I suppose i could get a loan... but thats wasted money and time i don't really have...

Cheers...

Why you don't apply multi entry visa for one year for CULTURE title.
That's what came out couple of months ago. You can get it that normally in two weeks.
Price was 140€ via travel agency including every thing just mailed application, passport, and copy of you travel insurance.
I found that out when working on my own visas to Central Asia.
Rus visa is easiest one KAZ and UZB are tricky because every consulate gives you dissimilar answers. :smartass:

If you trade as Self Employed under a name other than your own and have printed letterheads, write your own letter confirming you work for the business, will be travelling on business, etc..

Or get a buddy who has a company to write such a letter.

Failing that just print a made up letterhead and write.

No one checks it out - its just that they need to see it to be able to tick the box on their Visa Processing Form and pass the papers on to the next stage in their process!
The next stage is only concerned the preceeding boxes were ticked.

Thanks for the reply guys...

Capo Sakke... I've been searching away on the HUBB and Google and maybe I'm missing something but what do you mean 'culture title', what you have mentioned seems a bit too good (cheep) to be true... Sorry to doubt, can you clarify.

Thanks.

Capo Sakke:

Yes, to what tobyb said. This is the first I've heard of anything other than a business or tourist visa for Russia. And the cheapest dual entry business visa seems to be over $400 CDN

Thank you. :confused1:

Fees vary according to which Embassy (Country) you apply from and also your own Passport nationality.

EG. Russian Embassy Fees in their London Embassy for a Double Entry Business Visa -
£ 130 British Citizens
£ 30 Other EU Citizens (except Irish)
£ 65 Canada Citizens
£ 79 USA Citizens

It's the same work, so why the disparity?
It's all to do with recriprocal agreements - so put pressure on your own Government representative!

Look at the Russian Embassy Website for the Country in which you wish to apply from for your Russian Visa. (Google "Russian Embassy CITY/COUNTRY" City/Country being where you will apply!)

Some more variations for same visa in London:

Japanese passport £6
Swiss passport (1 year multi entry) £300
Emirati passport (1 year multi entry, next day service) £480

Thansk for the heads up.

Think I'm going to 'borrow' some headed paper from work before I leave.

Its looking like I will have to get the visa in London when i fly back for a week from Turkey (sisters wedding :innocent:). Annoyingly I have already booked flights so think I'm going to have to fork out for next day processing as otherwise it looks like 7 days :(

2 people, double entry business, next day processing... OOCH!

If i could work out a way to post the passport back from Greece, have a mate drop them off, and then pick it up back in london that would be good!

But as far as i know, you cant fly into the UK without a PPort...

It is possible if you are registered with Iris and come through the 5 main airport entry points where the trial is being conducted. Although not having to produce or show a passport you should have it with you. Also you would need it if the equipment is not working - it does have its off days!

Briefly, if you have a right of entry/residence in UK you register and have your eye iris pattern digitally read and recorded.

When arriving you enter a special cubicle where your iris is re-read and compared. If it matches the next door opens and you are through immigration/passport controls in 20 seconds. And for non EU passports, no messy stamp in the passport on pages you were keeping for other visas!

I just get my multi entry one year and my travel agencies told that possibility just came out some weeks ago that you can have multi entry one year visa as a tourist visa when it's related to culture. Have you ask any travel agencies?

It is quite easy to get a second passport. Other people have used a second passport to get their Russian visa while they are already on the road somewhere else with a different one. I can tell you how to get a second passport, I can't tell you how exactly to work the visa applications though. It still confuses me how you get into a country with one passport if you left the previous country on a different passport....

If you do that on nomansland.... OK they'll check you passport when you on next border... Haven't try yet but must do next summer. Those visa regulations are so ridiculous that should have second passport and do application on forehand and have somebody to handle things and have delivery to somewhere and hopefully save some weeks. Don't know yet if that cone work or not but looks like only possibility. Let's see what cone happend:cool4:

I have been through quite a few land borders and not seen both countries sharing the same 'desk' for Passport controls. In fact I have not seen them share the same building and they are often completely out of sight of each other (EG. Narva/Ivangorod, near you).

Even if they shared a desk, the first country's official should hand the Passport back to you, not give it to a different country!
Put it in a pocket.
Move to the next country's official, put your hand in the pocket and produce the second passport!

As with all burocracy, the 'new' country is only concerned that you are permitted to enter - not how you left the previous one. Though if they see armed Police escorting you to the border in handcuffs and release you, they may look at things more closely!

colebatch 3 Mar 2010 20:01

2 passports

As todders says is a good idea and as long as you can explain to the passport office that you have a load of visas to get and still need to travel abroad while thats happening, its no problem

I happen to have 2 different passports and travel with both. I use whichever is more convenient for each particular country and every time i change passport I exit one country with one and a different one at the entry point to the next country. I have never had a problem.
