Morocco: Where to get vehicle repairs - please contribute
 

This thread has been suggested, so let's give it a go.

I'll start with Peter B at Bikershome on Ouarzazate. He can do recovery, is allied with some Dutch 'RAC' for insurance purposes and has a small workshop you might be able to use. He helped me out once. Plus it's a nice place to stay.

He also put be onto a place in OZT another time to get some broken leaf springs replaced.

On way out of town towards Merzouga (on right side). Small petrol pump in front of building. Doesn’t speak English, but I was able to communicate with him in my dodgy Spanish and French. Very helpful.

Dropped everything he was doing to replace my toasted Transalp clutch with an old XL500 (that happened to fit!) one he had in the back room. Manufactured special tool so we could remove the clutch basket. Son and father worked for 4 hours each and including new proper Made in USA bike engine oil and the second hand clutch, charged me only 90 euros (in 2005).

Aziz at Garage Iriki in Zagora. Absolute legend, unlike the other cowboy 'mechanics' in town

In Taroudant, there are several decent garages at the southwest end of town. Taroudant is an interesting city to stay, and the right size - everything is close by.
Then on the way to Agadir, there's actually a good diesel shop, Al Fath, in Ouled Teima.

And there's the large junk yard at Ait Melloul, Agadir, right where N1 meets N10. Lots of parts dealers and garages in that area. You will not find anything as good if going south until you reach - - hmm, Dakar maybe?

While you are waiting for your Mauri visas in Rabat, there are several small but decent garages three blocks NE that can help with service and minor repairs.

Then there's a number of places where they will rip you off, destroy your vehicle and/or relieve you of your valuables in the process. :eek:

I only used one, from my first trip, I know Aziz is the most respected, but if he is not available you can give is neighbour a try

In Casablanca, ask for the "Speedmachine" Shop. Its the only ducati dealer in Africa, he also sells new LML vespas !!! Daniel is the owner, he has a extremely capable mechanic and repairs all kind of bikes, inclueding complicated electrical problems that require an analasys computer ! Very nice guys, stayed there a couple of days !

BMW bike dealer in Casa
 

As I'm sure many know there's also a BMW bike dealer in Casa, in case you 1200 flips its lid. Though I recall reading it was not so good for parts or diagnosis - more for sales. It's the only one in North Af?

Another possibility in Zagora would be Mohamed Gordito, he seems to be quite confident repairing Land Rovers, I let him have a go working on ours, some simple things like oil change and minor repair.

These guys repaired a broken axle mount and rear shock top mounts for me inside half a day. Plus they gave me breakfast and lunch :)

Motoplus Casa for sure, the local x-crossers and enduro riders rate them and I'm happy too

Moto Plus in Casablanca
is the biggest distributor of motorcycle and scooter parts in Morocco. What's more, if you are stuck elsewhere in Morocco they will dispatch parts to you using the CTM bus network.

Thanks to Casablanca's maze of one-way streets, the shop isn't easy to find, so waypoints and instructions plus contact details are here.

ask for rafael, he'll be more than willing to help, has a small workshop at the back specifically for bikes. his a local enduro boffen and has done a few trips to morocco, so he can even give you some advice if needed. when i asked him for a espana sticker for my bike he suddenly jumped on his scooter and appeared 10 min later with a unique ceuta/spain flag combination sticker, even gave me a hand full of other bike stickers and a t-shirt. all he did was weld my bike's mirror stem as i dropped it at the border crossing. highly recommended

Totally agree about BikersHome - nice place to stay, clean and well equipped garage but you'll need to be willing to get your hands dirty.

An alternative (if your bike is broken) is to get it on a bus and have it transported back to the port. CTM will do it, but I went with 'Diana Travel' who got me and the bike directly from Ourzazate to Tangier for €50. You may struggle with a bigger bike though. Still, much cheaper than the alternatives.

Just wanted to recommend Pete and the team at Wilderness Wheels - - Wilderness Wheels, Guided off-road motorbike adventure trips in Morocco and the Sahara desert, Motorbike trail riding in Ouarazazate.

Helped us get back on the road today with a broken land cruiser and made us coffee as well.

Primarily focused on bikes but managed to get us a decent mechanic. I believe he is partial to bacon being delivered :)
