tent for a "long" men !?
 

Hello,

i'm about 200cm long and need a long tent.
many tents are too short and then touch the feet of the inner tent.
who can give me some tips, about the tent i need.

im about 2m tall also, i have two 3man tents which are fine and a smaller 2man which is ok if i sleep diagonally

The longest tent I've yet found is the Sierra Designs Light Year. Its a 1 person tent, but 113" (284cm) long.

The Hilleberg Akto is a very good one person tent with lots of vestibule space for moto gear. I'm sure it would be long enough for you. I'm about 175 cm and I have room for gear above my head and below my feet.

I'm not sure it would be tall enough for you to sit up in, though.

They're not cheap tents, but quality is excellent.

I was in the same predicament, I bought the Marmot Limelight 3P.

Inside floor dimension is 225X160 height 117cm

MSR Mutha Hubba
 

I'm 193cm and the MSR Mutha Hubba works for us. Something that works in its favour is that the walls are nearly vertical and it is 2.1 metres long. I found that some tents would advertise a longer floor length but wouldn't be comfortable because of the tent sloping inwards. You can see that in the Sierra Designs tent pictured in the thread. At 284cm though you can afford to lose some space to the slope.

I did my last trip with a Wechsel Outpost Zero-G - usually quite expensive, but I got it relatively cheap.

It's a 3-pole tunnel with an asymmetric inner tent, offering almost 2.8m length on one side. The vestibule has a special roof with great ventilation, e.g. for cooking on rainy days. The Zero-G version is lightweight at <3.3kg and small to pack.

What I don't like: I'm annoyed of the number of pegs required, as my previous tent only needed 2 in good whether. But that's typical for tunnel designs.

I have to agree with shu
the Hilleberg tents are great - not cheap - but you gets what you pays for!... the quality is fantastic. Hilleberg the Tentmaker
we have used ours in all weathers, conditions etc and for Simon who is 6' 4" - its a great fit.

they are always quick and easy to put up and the best thing - the inner and flysheet all go up together!

go and lie down in as many as you can! and have fun choosing.

its a 2 man... i sleep diagonally in it...
plenty of roomm....almost 200cm as well

also you can pitch it in 3 minutes

I'm 6'4" and had a Bibler Avahnee (sp?) that fit me fine. Plenty of room for my gear, too.

MacPac Mineret can be lengthend on one side. Very good tent.

With all due respect, Eureka tents are built to a price point. In other words, as Lisa Thomas said several posts back, you get what you pay for. Hilleberg uses different materials (sil-nylon), superior construction, stronger design (4 season), and comes in at substantially less weight (the comparable one is a pound lighter).

All this aside, the Eureka appears to be a knockoff of the Hilleberg Nallo, so it can't be all bad. In fact, it might be the right tent for all sorts of people. But to compare it to a class act like Hilleberg (or, for that matter, anything designed by Todd Bibler), is at best disingenuous. Different approaches from start to finish. You've got to decide what sort of quality you're after, and whether you're willing to pay for it.

I need to stay clear of these threads.

i am also 1,92 cm - and the best tent i have had since now was the Vaude Mark II long - it is 2,30 cm long. So you will have enough space.

Hi Markus,

You need a tent with 2,20m or better 2,40,
because you don't want hit the walls of the "inner tent" with your sleeping-bag.

If you want to spent a lot of money,
most of the hilleberg tents are to short. (because they want to save weight)
