Not sure if this is the right place....

Just got a 2006 KLR650 and i want to change the seat. My question is which seat do you folks recommend?
The 2007 Afrika Single Seat from KLR650.com
The Gel Seat from Dual Star
Or the Corbin?

How tall are you? It makes a difference. If under 6-1 I would say you want a dished design (or lowering links). And will the riding be road, DS or trail?

You should query at klr650.net and advrider.com (thumper section). Lots of info on both. DualStar gets dinged for customer service. Some love the Corbins (esp dished). Few have the AS seat, so there will be little input to glean.

Good call...I am 5'10", it has the 2" lowing links, and I will be doing a a mix.

I did many long trip with my KLR stock seat and tried also the gel and the corbin.

Corbin or sargeant are the best but the dished one is not confortable .
the gel seat from DS is a waste of $$
ride on the stock one and you will like it , I used mine and often ride more than 500 miles a day.

I rode with the stock seat a while and it was O.K., thenfor some reason it strated chewing at me. I don't know what changed but I bought a flat [non-dished] Corbin on E-bay. It's the answer for me. Most people I've let try it think it's too hard, but I beleive that's what makes it work. It is easy to move around on, sometimes you move when it would be better not to, as under hard acceleration. Tie asheep skin on it for variation.

get a seat made for you by a specialist, either re shape your existing one or get a seat pan from a breaker. loads cheaper than corbin/sargeant and tailor made to fit your bum

I would say dont bother changing the seat. Your arse will adapt and evolve as mine has done to the AT seat.

As for changing or not, remember that the less often you ride (be honest with yourself) the less you'll be used to the seat. Not sure, as the above note said, how a custom seat can be cheaper BUT you can get a used stock seat cheap and then have the pan to work from. A smaller person also may find the stock saddle better, as their pelvic width wil be less--at 6-2 I find the stocker too narrow. My Mayer vinyl is great so far.

Shop hard and you can find a $200 flat Corbin. Do a WTB post at the ADVrider.com flea market.

im in the UK, where for corbin or sargent seats we pay the same number but with a pound sign in front instead of a dollar sign, so effectively double the price.
ridiculous, but probably tony jerk blairs fault, not corbins.

I agree with Caminando. By the end of the first week of 8 or 10 hour days you'll fit it perfectly. Either that or you'll have set it on fire by the side of the road !
