Need to raise top box by 3 inches
 

Because I have moved the side panniers back towards the end of the bike.

The knock on effect is that I need to raise my givi mount by 2-3 inches. I've mounted a cash box onto the givi mount and the bike, but the lock is pretty rubbish (really insecure) and the weak lid hinges are a point where I can see potential trouble.

So apart from welding the lid shut to the cash box, does anyone have an alternate suggestion as to how I might raise the top box?

Similar situation here, although I did not need to raise my Givi mount but put it back several inches since it was too close to the seat and driving two-up was impossible. What I did was simply to take a steel frame, mounted that one to my original mount (eight screws alltogether, including the two pins which required me to tap the original mount in two places) and mounted the mountpoints (two pins and the one for the lock) to said steel frame - voilà. Not only did it put my topcase back far enough for my girlfriend to be able to enjoy the ride but due to the construction it also raised it ~2cm.

Great idea but how did you make the frame? I dont have much welding gear!

To be honest... garbage :)
I went to my local mechanic (car btw, so yes, cars can be helpful every now and then) and he had a huge dumpster in the back. Asked him whether it was ok for me to dig around and he agreed. Spend an hour going through lots and lots of old metal and found just what I was looking for.
So I guess you do need some luck. I'll take a photo of it tomorrow if you want me to
