listening to music on the bike
 

hi guys,

something i miss on the road is listening music while driving. from thailand i bought a cheap (fake) cd player and now its going to fall apart.
i am looking for better equipment ( as cheap as possible)and i was thinking to install some speakers on the bike. somebody has some experience with that.
how do you do it?
any tips more then welcome

There are several options. I propose you do a search on the HUBB on:

You'll find lots of info. Feel free to ask any questions left over then. But it is best to post them in the relevant threats to keep info efficient searchable.

I was thinking of installing those small but dynamic PC speakers behind the dash, combined with a powersupply from 12V converter putten in some kind of waterproof box and put plug in a pocket pc or a little mp3 player on handlebar, I definately will one day go for a handlebar mounted pocket pc, cause they can do everything and seems worth the price.

In my helmet I'll take out elements from my big hi fi earset, put them in the speaker pockets of helmet= great sound.
But maybe not good if there is a crash..

I went simple, and now I have a fantastic sound!
I took my 32 ohm hi fi ear speakers, screwed them up and took out the elements, they were very slim.
Even with a little mp3 player, people on the street can hear the music from my booming helmet as I pass.

Yesterday testride with the Ipod. No problem on all kind off roads for about an hour.
Now I am waiting for the earphone's from Shure. I ordered them on the apple website. Hoping they do a good job in keeping outside noise out and delivering good sound quality to my ears.
If it works it is the ideal set up to me.

I use an IAudio 20gig mp3 player with Schure E2C headphones and it works great. The headphones block a lot of noise and the music sounds great at a low volume. The IAudio mp3 player has few controls and no lcd on the main body which keeps it small. There is an inline remote between the player and the headphones which has an lcd screen and all necessary controls. You can stash the main player in a pocket and then clip the remote to your sleeve. Love it.
