Anyone used Motion Pro tools?
 

Evening all,

Has anybody come across or have any experience of Motion Pro kit? They seemed to get the backing of some sites (that admittedly were selling them!)?

I've got the tyre levers with the hex on the other end that fits my wheel nuts and it fits my sump plug as well. Also have the multi tool thingy. The tyre levers way nothing, i've used them 4 times for tyre fitting and twice for doing oil changes on the road and no problems, they are almost to nice to use :thumbup1: I added the extra allen/Torq/screwdriver bits to the multi tool, also carry a couple of extra sockets in the pouch ( there a couple of quid each) and have used it a fair bit and again it does what it says on the tin. I have the multi tool and a leatherman in my jacket pocket when riding and I haven't had to open my full tool kit during each days ride. It's a sort of get me out of trouble set up then when I get to the nights stop if the pocket stuff didn't quite complete the job the big daddy tool kit comes out.

I've got their tire spoons, the larger curved tire iron, and a chain press that has worked great so far.

I carry a Motion Pro Chain Breaker/Press/Riveter on my F800GS and find it to be good quality.

I used the smaller version Chain Breaker/Press for 3 years with my F650GS Dakar with no problems.

Thanks for the replies guys. Good to hear that they actually work and are not just style over substance!

Am thinking of getting a multi-tool along with a couple of extra sockets for the big trip in the spring.

McGiggle, do you find that the multi-tool and the additional sockets are enough? What extra tools do you carry? Am thinking about what tools sohuld make up my trip kit.

I had a look with the tyre irons at the London bike show this weekend and couldn't believe how light they were!! i can understand why you wouldn't want to soil them!

I've got the tyre irons with the hex end, and I like them quite a lot. I have two, the 27mm and the 12/13mm one, but I ended up leaving the 12/13mm one at home, because the tyre levers don't have enough bite for my taste. The 27mm hex one is still the best option out the for axle nuts, as anything else with that strength and length will weigh a ton. It's worth its price, but you need to try the levers on your rims/tyres and see if their angle/curvature works for you or not. Bottom-line: I carry the 27mm hex T-combo lever, and one (sometimes two), of the extra short KTM tyre levers, they have the best grip according to my taste.

I bought mine in 2000 from Baja Designs, when visiting the States. I chose the Motion Pro and my friend got another, 'similar' small tool kit.

The other one, whose name I've forgotten, quickly broke. The Motion Pro is 2 feet away from me in my backpack. I carry it everywhere when I'm riding. It's given me 10 years of use and you're more likely to lose it or have it stolen than have it break.

As mentioned, just add any socket sizes you need and it'll serve you well.

I cannot rave enough about the Motion Pro tools.
I think the combo tyre lever/spanner tools are one of the best tools I've brought on this trip, just fantastic.
I've had about 35 punctures on this trip, and these levers have been simply fantastic. Extremely lightweight, worth every penny.
The multitool is also a great bit of kit, you need very little more than the bits contained in this little pouch.

I've also got on really well with the 'Best rest products' Cycle pump. Worth the cash for sure. I was riding solo for a lot of the trip, and happily relied on this pump. I'd sooner spend the extra and know I could rely on the pump. No $5 Chinese junk for me, though many folks say they're fine.

My kit list for the trip is on my site HERE. I started out with a lot lot lot more than this, but have narrowed it down over the last 13 months.
