quick drying underwear
 

Hi all

Im looking for a quick drying solution for underwear whilst wearing around camp ( I use LDC pants for riding and there fantastic)

I have in the past used silk but this last trip they sort of fell apart when I was wringing them out to get most of the water out.

They have to be quick drying as I only carry 2 sets of clothes (one being worn whilst the other is washed)

Looking for boxer style if possible

the quickest drying solution is no underwear.

I've always fancied a Commando but I was thinking of something completely different!

going commando is a no no .... cause otherwise I would have to wash my long trousers more :thumbdown:

I have found Icebreaker to be very quick drying, and if I really can't wait putting them on slightly damp is no big deal as they dry while on in no time.

Don't know if they are sold elsewhere but in the US you can buy X-Officio underwear. Wash up quickly and dry in about two hours ... even in humidity.
They wick really well and are anti-bacterial.

Two pair is all you need. Wash every day or every other day. I wear same type fabrics with socks and T-shirts .... all quick drying cycling stuff. I also wear gel padded cycling shorts for really long days (over 300 miles). The Italian ones dry quickly, really add to comfort on the bike. Down side is ALL this stuff is expensive.

I buy T's and cycling shorts mostly 2nd hand at Goodwill or Salvation Army. Hella deals there if you're lucky. (not socks or underwear ... I like NEW stuff!
Never use harsh detergents or hot dryers on XOfficio or other delicate fabrics. I wash 'em with hand soap or shampoo. :Beach:

I wouldnt make such a big deal about a few pair of knickers..

AVOID Silk... I bought 4 pairs (£50) on bad advice. They fell apart in a matter of weeks.

Just take cotton boxers. Keep it simple. If you change your mind, there isn't a country in the world that you can't buy underwear..

I bought a pair of Icebreakers 150 Boxers to see if they were as good as people had claimed (only 1 pair as they are expensive!) I must say I am very impressed with them, they are v comfortable,resist smells v well & dry in no time,not had them long enough to comment on their durability though. Cheapest I have found them is £23 a pair.

Merino wool for me!
 

As above, try any lightweight Merino wool stuff. I have the Icebreaker as that's what was on offer and on a recent red hot trip through Spain & Portugal the boxers and T-shirt were fantastic. They resist pongs incredibly well even if worn unwashed for two or three days (experiment in the name of science of course!) After the 'experiment' I just gave them a soapy rinse in the shower each evening, hung them up and they were dry for the morning. I had two sets of boxers and 1 T-Shirt and that was plenty.

I've tried loads of 'wicking' kit over the years but all the synthetic stuff just makes me stink horribly! Merino wool is, for me at least, worth the expense.

Ted your right about silk... I think mine are 2 years old and maybe worn 60 times... whilst wringing them dry they just fell apart at the waistband !

ordinary polycotton dries fast. especially tied to the bike in a net bag. unless you have a senior moment and fill your skids then there should be plenty of time to dry.

Rukka do some biker panties, my mate swears by 'em. It's probably the only item of rukka gear most of us could afford !

No it does not itch,hardly know I am wearing the Icebreakers.
Also have Merino thermals from Halvarssons,they do not itch either.

Rohan travel gear.Not cheap but very very good. Lightweight, quick drying and crease free (not that that really matters with underwear!)
