Ted, didn't you tell me your thongs dried pretty quickly too?

Selous 22 Jun 2010 22:37

well first off I use bog standard undies (briefs) as i find boxers ride up including hipsters, while serving in the Army i used Silk undies for exercise & operational Tours (on some occasions you cant change for 4+ days!!!)
I never ever had a problem they have lasted me for years.

however i agree with Ted no matter where you are in the world you can pick up a pair of bill grundy's (undies), so don't worry.

but dont take your fav undies they might not come back! lol

Helly Hansen do a range of boxer style underwear, seamless therefore comfortable and fulfill yuor requirement for quick drying.

have to give the thumbs up for merino wool - keeps you really warm and cool. It's not cheap though but does last and washes / dries well.
I have merino leggings but didn't know you could get pants - must have a look around!

I have been wearing tighty whitys all my life. Recently I thought i would go high tek and bought 3 pair of the fast dry from different manufacturers. All boxer bycycle rider type that fit snugly. Not sure if that is the right terminology but they all let the boys stick to my legs and it is not a comfortable experience. I WIL HANG MY UNDERWEAR IN THE WIND BEFORE I WILL WEAR NUT STICKERS AGAIN.

Hi all

Im looking for a quick drying solution for underwear whilst wearing around camp ( I use LDC pants for riding and there fantastic)

I have in the past used silk but this last trip they sort of fell apart when I was wringing them out to get most of the water out.

They have to be quick drying as I only carry 2 sets of clothes (one being worn whilst the other is washed)

Looking for boxer style if possible

Cheers

I use 100% Merinowool even after using it on a very hot ride it does not smell. It's a natural fabric and quick drying.

Thanks all for the replies and advice

Didnt realise I had replies to this because for some reason didnt get an email telling me .. never mind :-)

going to look into Icebreakers, Im not really bothered about high cost as I see it as an investment

shredded

I took some advice and bought decent silk skiddies. The kevlar lining in my daggin jeans has shredded them to pieces. It has been like using a brillo pad on them! I wont be buying any more but they were comfortable while they lasted and dried quick too.

The search goes on for something cheap, comfy and practical.

Especially when riding with nothing else on ! A nice warm breeze through your undercarriage drys out the dampest of thongs !

Hi all

Forgot all about this thread and I hate it when you search a thread and theres no answer at the end of it.

So I bought EX-Officio boxers, 2 pairs for £38 ! but they are an investment. Been using them all summer and they tick all the boxes

quick to dry, comfy to wear.. what more do you need ?

Cheers
Geordie

AVOID Silk... I bought 4 pairs (£50) on bad advice. They fell apart in a matter of weeks.

Just take cotton boxers. Keep it simple. If you change your mind, there isn't a country in the world that you can't buy underwear..

Yep I agree with Ted to a degree, if your that sad, & only take 2 pairs I would suggest you look closer at your pers hygiene as you could end up with crouch rot !
I pers use pure silk (take 5 pairs), from patra fold up v small & dry very quick if not put them close to your body they will then (old army trick)

Pants!

Exofficio get my vote. Dry much quicker than merino wool. Better than either Icebreaker or Paramo.

Happy trails,

Jojo

Anyone looking for merino wool base layers in the Uk could do worse than keeping a regular eye on aldi and lidl. They often sell merino base layers for about ten of her britannic maJesties pounds, usually in their mountain bike/running ranges.

trail mag rave about them but they ofter sell quick.
