Yamaha XT600 Carb Help!

Hey there! Newbie here :) ... I just need help with my Yamaha can't figure out which hose goes where on the double carb ...

-So Hose number 1 is the main fuel hose which is in the right place ...

-Hose number 2 is behind hose number 1 (can barely see it in the picture) which is connected nowhere at the moment ... Where does that belong to ? is it just an overflow hose?

-Hose number 3 is the green one which is connected to the rubber thingie between the carburator and the cilinder ... I don't know either if this one is connected to the right place

-There is number 4 which is connected to the other part of the carb but i think that is connected the right way

-And there is one more hose on the otherside of the carburator which has a big circular thing on the end which i think it should float freely as far as I know

-Oh and one more ... where do I adjust the air flow on the carb?

Sorry for so many stupid questions but I came from an RS125 and several mopeds and i'm kinda new to this stuff

My bike won't start up but i'm 100% its because of this carburator issue so I would be really happy if some of you guys who has the knowledge could help me out !

If you could make me some sort of a drawing i would be really really grateful!

Thank you so much in advance!

What you need is hose from tank to carb, drain underneath, right side hose for air breed with a filter placed underneath seat. Nr2 is just traight down overflow. On the top of the carb 1 is a hose that goes to carb 2 top. The green i have never seen, mine is plugged on the intake where green is.

Isn't number 3 the overflow and number 2 the vacuum? ...

The green hose was put in by me ...

I just need to know which one is the vacuum and where it goes

And on the otherside theres the wider hose with a round thingie on the end .. if I don't have a airfilter (I have sport filters) then can i leave it floating freely?

Thank you

The thingie is suppose to be underneath the seat, doesnt matter what filter you have. Forget about using the green up on the intake rubber, it is plugged. Let them hang loose, there is no vacuum hose to attach.

I dont understand what valve admission is?? On the rubber intake you have a nipple on top, its suppose to be plugged.

Ok then I'll plug it back ... i'll try out what you said as soon as possible and come back with feedback

Hi there,

Did you ever sort out the hose routing on the carb? I'm having the same issue myself!

steveloomis 12 Dec 2015 01:00

What issue are you having with the hoses? Please describe, you are replying to an old post but maybe I can assist. I only know about the older CDI type of XT600, 80's models.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I have a 1990 XT600E Swiss model 3UX

The carb looks exactly the same as the one pictured above. I'm having trouble with which hoses go where as the official Yamaha service manual is not particularly clear.

Also as it's a Swiss model 3UX it has a compensator assembly which has 2 hoses that attach to the carb.

I can take some photos next time I'm working on it if that helps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry too far removed from my bike to be able to help you.

Plug the hose/fitting on the carb rubber boot. It will be pulling in air and the bike will never run well. Just screw in an m6 bolt about 15 mm long.
