XTZ660 jet needle clip adjustment?

Hello, On an XTZ660's Dual carby's do you adjust the jet needle clip for rich or lean mixture on the primary carb or secondary carb?

I have an aftermarket pipe and air filter fitted and am finding it a bit lean, i have read allot about adjusting the jet needle clip for tuning...... but what i have read have been for single carbs, so I am not sure which to adjust on the dual TEIKEI carbs on my bike.

Thanks for your help
Brad

Mt guess is that you should ricjen it up on both carbs.

If you richen the primary and thats spot on, then the bike will probably lean it out when the secondary carb kicks in.

I'll be rejetting my xt600 in a couple of weeks and get a dynorun on it. I can post results here if you'd like?

Yeah thats a good point actually.

The results of your Dyno would be great to know, thanks.

My project has been delayed. The new headers are in backorder from kedo.de and will remian so for around 4 weeks :(

How did you're project go?

Hey, I've got my downpipes, mounted them, and opened out the airbox.

I'll be fixing the carb tomorrow.

I't runs fine without any mod, but my guess its that it euns to lean, with the opened airbox, bigger downpipes and an pretty open exhaust (laser pro duro)

I think i'll raise both needles one noth, and then get it on the dyno, to see what needs further adjustment (perhaps bigger jets)

Jens Eskildsen 21 May 2009 16:01

Yhe plug was white with all the new stuff, so I've raised both needles, and have just added 140/130 jets (130/120 stock)

I'll get it on a dyno on wednesday :thumbup1:

How 'bout yours?

Hi

I was thinking about getting a dynojet kit for my xtz. Just curious to here about your results with bigger jets and lifting the needles, before I let my hard earned cash go to dyno..

Jens Eskildsen 28 May 2009 20:50

No results yet for me, the tube broke just before the dyno run :(

I got a new one now, and i'm planing on a dynorun tuesday/wednesday.

wolfzero 29 May 2009 00:35

damn thats a bummer jens i'd like to see dyno results on the open air box and pro duro setup.
have you still got the baffle in the link pipe on the pro duro system?

Jens Eskildsen 29 May 2009 19:48

Hey, I dont know what a "baffle" is, can this pic help?

the pro duro has a little mesh spark arrestor welded in the tip of the tail pipe which is quite easy to remove and makes a bit of difference to the sound of the exhaust.
there is also a mesh tube in the link pipe the can fits onto which is there to quieten it down too.
i've taken both out of mine :thumbup1:

Jens Eskildsen 31 May 2009 16:03

Oh yeah sure, it's all gone:thumbup1:

Ill post my dynorun, however the poor it might be.

I've got the old dynorun laying around somewhere, I'll post that as well :)

Back again.

My mods:

Kedo bigger downpipes.
Laser produro exhaust.
Opened airbox.
pipercross foamfilter

-----------------

Stock jets: 130/120
My jets: 140/130

Needles stock: 3. position (in the middle)
My needles: 2. from the top (needles one noth up, to richen it up)

The test showed that it was lean in the lover area, so I need a bigger idle jet. (no. 48, 46 is stock)

The middle area (needle) were perfect.

The top was rich, so i need smaller jets. Im guessing something in the middle of stock and my current onces. Around 135/125.

Hope you can use it.

Hi

Thank you for the info. Guess i´ll try something similar on my xtz. Will post when done.

Chris

AFAIK the xtz is pretty rich with stock jetting.

kedo.de sells a set to get more MPG, with ( i think) smaller jets and another needle.
