XTZ Tenere '97 front mudguard????

Hi

I have a '97 XTZ 3YF, It has a small front mudguard which is very close to the tyre, and i have heard that larger and higher set ones are available, but are these for the older bikes only? If not, does anyone know where i can get one, and would it interfere with the cooling of the rad at all??

any help is welcome

thanks

hi mate, yes a motorcross style mudguard will effect the cooling, that is why yamaha went from that style to the wheel hugging style guard...
i was thinking of doing a bmw style half half set up... keeping the front of the motorcross guard ,,but trimming the lower half off quite short,(so as to not effect the cooling) while keeping the bottum half of the wheel hugging guard to stop water splashing up into the motor ect...

i hope that makes some sense, there is a great pick a bike from a dutch tenere site with a similar set up...

Just take off the mudguard, unscrew the steel brace and lengthen it by a few cms. with 2 pieces of steel welded on. This will give you enough space for the mud to be able to get away and the front wheel not to stop.
