XT600E - Touratech or Metal Mule racks/ luggage

I looking to get the metal mule boxes for my 2003 XT600E.

They make their own rack for the Xt but is it any good ?? The touratech rack seems great but I dont like touratech boxes.

Hi Ted,
A mate of mine has mules on his BMW. The whole set up is excellent and I would rate them better than Touratechs. The rack is quite similar to the Touratech rack which I have on my XT. The Touratech rack is, as you say, pretty solid but not terribly accurately made. I had to get someone to pull hard on the rack when I bolted it on as it didn't fit at all well. At first I thought they'd sent me the wrong rack! Someone I met at the HU Meet in Derbyshire said they'd had to tie the rack to an immovable object and get someone to heave on the bike when they fitted theirs!
In summary I reckon you'd be as well with the Mules own racks. Not sure if the Mules boxes would fit on the TT rack either as the fitment is different.

I got Mule racks and boxes for my XT a couple of months ago. Took some brute force and ignorance (and some extra washers and filing of holes) to fit the racks - no difference from Touratech there. Once fitted the frame feels pretty robust, there´s a bridging piece, I think it´s good design. Time will tell..

Hope that´s of help.

Matt
