XT600e Speedo

I have a Xt600e 2005 plate registered in the uk, I think at some point it was imported from Greece??? My Yamaha dealer identified it as such when I tried to source parts. Does anyone have any experience of the speedo on this model. I put on my long range Acerbis tank today and took it out for a spin to see if it feels good with the extra weight of a full 23ltr tank. I think that the odometer is reading KMS on a MPH speedo, seems a bit strange but the miles did not really add up. Fully loaded tank felt fine by the way!!

there is an adpter available for the speedo that fits between the speedo head and the cable most people fit them to convert the reading from kph to mph but not the other way round worth a check i suppose dont really know anything else

i've swapped mine out for a digital dash its so much better than the original and really acurate as it can be calibrated to the tyre/wheel size as my bike is now supermoto'd the front is a 17" not a 21" so the oe dash was way off:rolleyes2:
you might find that your speedo was swapped after importing to the uk and is for a 17" wheel which means its gonna be about 10-15% out.
running standard gearing 15/45 you should be doing 60 at 4000 rpm in 5th gear. :thumbup1:

Wolfzero, what kind of digital dash did you use? I went out on the bike again today and the odo is reading in KMS but the speedo is definately reading MPH, it's running at about 5000rpm at 70 mph. I am getting the bike and myself ready to ride to the faro bike rally in July, everybody I talk to says I should use my Transalp but I like the XT,

i have the vapor trailtech dash on my xt600 and an acewell dash on my gsxr750 both are excelent kit the acewell is probably the better of the two due to the bigger display :thumbup1:

Yesterday night I bought the dashboard for it.. It's a good item an looks good...

Wolf... I like that mount you made for your Vapor...NEAT! btw is that a power socket on the right side? :thumbup1:

the cover on the right side of the dash is the new ignition switch the idiot lights were just a quick fix as i'd junked the original warning lights with the old clocks :cool4:

My 57 plate is the same and also came from Greece. I'm not too bothered as I figure it will be useful once I leave blighty.
I'm pleased to hear about the tank as I have one too. I'm not fussed about fitting it just yet as it's not a distance bike at the moment.

The tank was a quick and easy fit Geoff, I am not worried about the odo being in KMS either, I just thought it a bit strange. Filling a dirt bike at the petrol station with 23ltr confused the hell out of the pump staff tho, they couldn't believe I got 21 ltr in the bike!!

The Motorcycle Centre Orrell had an 06 plate XT600e up for sale in December. I phoned up about it and they had sold the bike when new, they bought stock bound for Greece and registered them here.

Mine came from up north, KJM Superbikes of Wigan. Bought by a guy in Notts, then by me. There's a label behind the seat written in Greek. It smelt of kebabs until I did the first oil change.
