XT600E Screen
Hi guys.
I'm shortly due to leave for a RTW trip on my 1999 XT600E - but it still doesn't have a screen. I took a look at some other threads on this subject but the productions mentioned are mostly not for sale anymore... Secdem in France make them for mulitple types of XT's, but not for the XT600E seemingly. Catalogue Secdem / Bullster : YAMAHA Also I've found this one in the UK, but it doesn't mention the XT600E. Does anyone have any idea if either this screen or one from Secdem would fit a XT600E? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263544753...m=263544753899 Any help with these items or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks very much, Mark |

For me, screens are pretty generic, not nesscesarily model specific.
I used an old screen form a xtz660 for my xt600. I ended up cutting it down a loft becasue of the "disturbed" air around my face. Wouldnt be so much an issue if I wasnt so tall I guess. I shortened it more than this, but heres a pic. Takes the wind right of the face, and is still safe to use offroad. http://www.tenere.dk/forumnew/uploads/987/IMG_1409.jpg Heres the screen now, in the current state.Picture is only a couple weeks old from a detour home from work. The screen only extends 5-10cm up over the lightmask: http://www.tenere.dk/forumnew/uploads/987/screen.jpg For my first one, i just used a piece of lexan cut to size, bolted to the headlightmask. |
It's temping xtorange, but I already spent too much on trip prep so far ;)
Thanks Jens. That's interesting, I didn't think a 660 screen might fit. I'm short so one like that might work well for me. This looks pretty similar to the one you bought right? It looks nice and flat, I might give it a shot I think. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-XT...W/261940614175 Thanks, Mark |
Yeah, i would think the touring screen is a bit bigger than the stock one. Mine was easy to cut down. If you do, cut from the bottom so its less noticable, and you still have the lip at the top.

Thanks, I've bought the screen I linked before, fingers crossed it fits okay!

The size is perfect for RTW trip because it protects your chest from the cold and let you face out to the wind for the hot days.... https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xesEeU3Lq...L/s1600/5a.JPG https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gPljgRae1.../s1600/86a.JPG It may look ugly for some people in here but when you are RTW you must have good protection from the weather conditions. |
