Xt600e centre stand, suspension linkage problem

I know there has been threads on here before regarding this matter, but my problem seems unique.

After much tinkering and messing around I have got the new longer bolt on the rear linkage through as much as i can. Just through enough to get 2 or 3 threads on the nut.

I have tried drifting the bolt further through but to no avail. I also removed the weight off the rear end with the help of a mate and a car jack, the preload set to minimum. I obviously greased the bolt too but I'm still having problems.

It seems like where the bolt widens just after the thread is catching on the last metal part of the bike before it's home free. I have spent the last couple of hours trying to get this done but have run out of ideasss......

Help?

Emery paper

I had a problem fitting the longer bolt too so I used a technique ive seen aircraft engineers use in GA ..... emery paper!

For me the bolt was close but just too tight to fit so after about 10 - 15 mins with some 400 grit it went in like a glove.

If you go for this then do a little at a time and keep trying it (you can remove material but you cant put it back) and don't use anything too course, the tiny cuts could set up a crack if you try to speed up the proses by going for some 80 grit or something.
