Hey guys.Does anyone know what this is?I have seen it a couple of times.Attachment 14014

It's a pressure equalizer for between intakes, usually used on twin cylinders/twin carbs. I've played with them on snowmobiles. If it is on a single thumper it is probably more as a vacuum chamber to smoothen out pulses.

So why don't all xt600 have one?Isn't it strange

I don't think there will be much gain on the XT's , they don't have stuff using vacuum for operation that would need reliable amounts of vacuum. Being single cylinder not a need for even intake runners either.

But still my question is unanswered. Why some xt600's have it and some don't?What's the difference in the same engine? What's the real purpose of this plastic?

My bike is 4PT5, I don't know the part number.
Here is an older post of mine with a different picture.

What is attached to the little nipple coming out the side? On the older models it is capped off, maybe they added some emissions junk that needed the vacuum reservoir .
